Default Painting Rims Flat Black

I saw someone with a Z who painted their rim flat black. It looked decent. I don't want glossy black rims. I have a black car and wanted flat black rims. What do you think? no good?

Flat paint on any part of a vehicle comes across as ghetto and cheap to me.

A satin black tends to look really good on wheels.

Powder coating is a more durable alternative.

Well, it is one cheap way for those that can't afford rims. I can get you a diy if you'd like.

Back in my stock wheel days, I had them powder coated and LOVED them! Looked really good. Not sure if you're talking about doing a rattle can paint job, but i'd think about powder coating first.

If you want flat black wheels then paint the wheels flat black. Why ask my approval. Who am I your mother.

satin or semi-gloss is by far the best bet. full gloss will last only till you first wash the car and scratch the heck out of them. then it will look like spider webs all over them. satin will hide all the scratches. flat, would be tricky to keep not stained with oil or contaminants that will absorb into them. at the least use an acylic enamel, but, powder coating is still cheap (most shops run satin black all the time) and will be the best.

I did mine in Low gloss engine enamel with ceramic by dupli color. Sanded them down with 400 grit then 2000 grit. two coats of enamel. Evryone thinks they are powder coated they came out that good. I have been painting for a while as a hobby so I knew the right way to do this. Here it is...

FLAT black would show brake dust easier, which in turn would look dirty all the time.

id personally go with a semi gloss.

Last time I checked dust is visible more so on gloss than flat black. Go test it yourself before giving advice...

go with a Satin finish as I did. looks WAAAAY better than flat black. trust me. I wanted to go flat black at first as well and was talked out of it. thank god.

it is terrible to keep looking clean, can look really, really bad very quickly.

if you get Satin black when they are dirty they LOOK flat, so you get the best of both worlds

i had flat black on my stock frontier wheels before i got gloss black.
it seemed that my flat black the wheels were harder to clean. but it may seem that way because it was crappy paint..

i was giving info on a personal experience.
but you guys dont play around .

haha
