Painting Rims Flat Black
I saw someone with a Z who painted their rim flat black. It looked decent. I don't want glossy black rims. I have a black car and wanted flat black rims. What do you think? no good?

Back in my stock wheel days, I had them powder coated and LOVED them! Looked really good. Not sure if you're talking about doing a rattle can paint job, but i'd think about powder coating first.

satin or semi-gloss is by far the best bet. full gloss will last only till you first wash the car and scratch the heck out of them. then it will look like spider webs all over them. satin will hide all the scratches. flat, would be tricky to keep not stained with oil or contaminants that will absorb into them. at the least use an acylic enamel, but, powder coating is still cheap (most shops run satin black all the time) and will be the best.

I did mine in Low gloss engine enamel with ceramic by dupli color. Sanded them down with 400 grit then 2000 grit. two coats of enamel. Evryone thinks they are powder coated they came out that good. I have been painting for a while as a hobby so I knew the right way to do this. Here it is...

id personally go with a semi gloss.

Last time I checked dust is visible more so on gloss than flat black. Go test it yourself before giving advice...

it is terrible to keep looking clean, can look really, really bad very quickly.
if you get Satin black when they are dirty they LOOK flat, so you get the best of both worlds
