Default which tire do you think is better for autox

My question is this. I am looking to get a new set of tires for my stock 17" wheels to run autox. I am not interested in running r compound tires as I do drive it from time to time on the street, but not a daily driver. My buddy has put the bf goodrich kdw tt on his z and I have driven it and they are very impressive. The other tire I am looking into is the falken azenis rt 615. I have read alot of great reviews on this tire as well. Wet traction is not really an issue. Anyways does anyone have an opinion on this or maybe has ran these tires at an event, any help would be appreciated.

Any good street tire is good for autocross:

BTW when does rain cancel autocross?

615's are great - handles heat well, good dry/warm weather traction.

RE-01's are supposed to be the "best" street AutoX tire now...haven't driven on them before, but from looking at last year's SCCA Nationals, they did very very well.

FWIW, the next set of street tires I get will be the RE-01's...I'm currently on the 615's, so I'll be interested to see how they differ. (I run my street tires for practice AutoX days.)

The 615's are good tires for autocrossing. They're the next best thing to R-compound tires. My set have lasted me about a year and I will be trying the RE-01s next.

How? I use about two sets a year?

OP, The 615's are good, but I have never used the KDW's. My brother has used both the 615's and the KDW's on his STi. He is not a fan of the KDW's

If the RE-01's came in 275/40 17's I would be all over them. My brother has opened up a big can of whup@$$ on me since the first day he drove on those tires. (When we were both on MX's, or other similar tires, we had very close times)

FWIW, I have a set of KD's (not the KDW's) sitting in my garage, just waiting for me to finish off the 615's.

thanks for the opinions. As a response to david above. I dont think rain does cancel autox.. I was just stating that i dont care about wet traction. Also I dont think that any good street tire is good for autox. As you well know im sure, drag strips are for fast cars, autox is for fast drivers. That being said I usually do quit well on my crappy continental all season tires in the rear and ventus hr II in the front, but i am looking to go to the next step and get that little extra.. That is why I asked the question of which tire david. Thanks for your input though it is appreciated. I think you all have helped me decide on the 615's. All who replied to this thread it is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time. By the way Z1NONLY I am jealous that you have the kd's ready to go on. Little to much money for me to spend on a set of tires right now but I hear they are incredible.

I only use them for autocrossing, not for daily driving. I rotate them at each use. I guess it also has a lot to do with the number of events and runs you get plus relative course size.

They were on sale. They cost about $200 more than a set of 615's. I hope they are worth the extra $$$.

True. I just did the math and estimate about 120 runs on our 1/2 mile test-and-tune and novice-school courses per year, as well as 60-70 runs on our mile-long "event" courses. (This includes two "fun" days each year too.)

I have a company vehicle so I can't say I DD myZ. But when I drive her, she's rolling just as she does at the track. (The 615's even heat up to track-psi's after a few minutes of street driving. )

Yeah, you probably have twice the runs and distance than me for a year.
