Default Clear up confusion on wheels

Okay so Ive always been confused with offsets of wheels and spacers. Can some one give me some insight. Whats the offset on the stock wheels of a z?

Lets say that you have a wheel that is 10" wide with a 23mm offset and a 10" wide wheel with a 15mm offset. Does that mean the size of the lip on the 23mm wheel would be smaller? Say that the 15mm wheel has a 4" lip and the wheel is nice and flush with the fender, is it possible to have a 4" on the 23mm wheel and still be flush with fender.

These are just numbers that Im putting together so its all hypothetical. I have more questions about wheels and spacers that Ill ask when I think of them. Thanks

The offset only partially has a bearing on the amount of lippage. The design of the wheel, whether its high or low disk plays a great part as well. Offset mostly has to do with flushness of the rim to the edge of the fender well, the amount of lip depends on the design of the rim.

1) Yes if the two wheels are exactly the same. But it's part of the wheel design so you could get more lip or same lip by changing the angle of the spokes for instance.

2) No the 23mm wheels would sit 8mm deeper in the fender than the 15mm one. This is precisely what offset measures. And since the two wheels are the same width, the 23mm wheel would make you lose 8 mm of inner clearance to the wheel housing.
