Ok... I bought some new tires and want to get some new rims, here are the specs on both.


Front tires: 245/40/18
Rear tires: 275/40/18

Front rims: 18x8.5 20mm offset
Rear rims: 18x9.5 25mm offset


I also have Eibach Sportlines that give a 1.2" drop.

/will they fit? Do I need spacers? Will I need to roll my fenders?

^^ A one+ inch drop is significant, but you should be fine with the setup you describe without rubbing. I doubt you need spacers to get the look you want.

They will fit fine, in that they will have no rubbing issues. That said, I would look for a more agressive offset. Those offsets are a bit weak... even for me.

On a 8.5" front look for a +12 to +15 range offset
on a 9.5" rear look for around a +15 to +18 range offset

that setup should work well... I highly dought youll have to roll the fenders...mayby even a a small spacer in the rear

Could I just use some spacers? like a 5-10mm front spacer and a 10mm spacer for the rear? Or do i have that all backwards?

Spacers would work as well, but preferably buy wheels with proper specs. I think you will be happier in the end

10mm is a fraction of an inch. I would mount tires on what you have. See if that looks OK to you (it probably will with the setup you describe).

I would avoid using spacers unless you absolutely need these for the look you want.

Gotcha. I'm gonna take your advise on that, I deff dont wanna drop 240 for some kicks spacers if i really dont need them. I just dont want my wheels to look like they are sitting too far in.

10mm is about the width of a finger...... definitely more than a "fraction of an inch" 10mm is very noticable when reffering to offsets.

7mm=.27”
My forefinger measures 0.70” wide (I just measured it)

I realize I’m arguing millimeters here, but that is the basis of this discussion.
Something else… Not all tires are “created equal.” A 275mm in one brand may be wider and fill the fender space more than a different tire sized the same but a different manufacturer. The only way to see this is mounting the wheels and tires.

And… the difference of 25 to 18 offset is about ¼” and hardly noticeable (it’s much less than the width of my finger), and probably not worth the headache of spacers if you can avoid this.

Of course this discussion of measurements will probably attract some poor humor from people who think they can provide clever comments.

I got a call from the wheel manufacutrer and they keep telling me that the 25mm offset with the 9.5" rim will stick out over an inch past my pender! So you guys sure it will fit ok by the specs of the wheel?

He is an idiot... as long as it is a +25 on a 9.5" wheel you will be fine. In fact, the wheel will be a bit tucked

You should be getting a +18 or lower offset IMHO

Come down to my shop. I will swap out spacers and you can see for yourself how noticable even a 5mm difference in offset is, let a lone a 10mm difference in offsets.

I will proboly use a 10mm spacer for the rear if I have to. That should solve that problem.

They are definitely more agressive than stock and it may be enough for you. But, you might become more aware of correct offsets and then wish you had bought the proper offsets from the start. Spacers are definitely an option though if it comes to it

not worth dropping extra cash on spacers. Use the extra money to get wheels that fit right - you'll be happier.

LAST QUESTION I PROMISE!!

I used the offset calculator and my current offset for my stock 18x8 are +33. The new rims will be 18x9.5 with +25 offset. Now I'm worried that they will not fit over my calipers because it's says my inner clearence will be 11MM LESS but the outer position will extend an extra 27mm. I don't get this offset stuff yet. So will I be ok with the rear caliper and not with the fender?
