Now they tell me... food for thought when buying tires.
Hi all,
Just some info for those buying tires.
Just had some Toyo Proxes 4's installed on the fronts. Figured my rears would no need replacing for a bit so I didn't give them much thought. Looks like it's going to be sooner than later.
I have 245/40/18's on the front and 275/40/18's (kumho) on the back. Well, the Proxes don't come in the correct size for rears so I'll have to get either T1R's or another brand....
Not the end of the world, but had I known ahead of time, I would have bought something else.
I hate learning this stuff after the fact......

Yeah the Proxy's are more economical and to me, just as good for everyday driving as the T1's. Fortunately, I found out before I ordered a set of four. I have run mismatched for short periods of time and never noticed a huge problem with it, but most shops do not recommend it. I have been leaning towards the Kuhmo's or Sessanta's for my next set. Then again, if you have the 18's, check out the Goodyear GSD3's.
Sorry they aren't available in that size, but I think that's a pretty basic thing that most other people check...anyway, it's not that bad of a deal to run different tires front and rear, chances are you'll never notice it.

I doubt I'll notice the difference running different models/ brands either.

Procrastination > me.
Yeah, I am holding off to do the camber kit installed at the same time as the new tires and alignment. I have a friend who went with the Kuhmo's after his Toyo's and was somewhat disappointed. The only other brand in that range would be the Sessanta's. If I don't go with them I might bite the big one and go with the new assymetrical Goodyears in hopes of getting somewhat decent wear out of my tires. Three sets at 30K is killing me. Maybe it is just our systems wearing them down.
