PLEASE HELP! GOT MY GT RAYS CURB RASHES REPAIRED AND GOT THEM PAINTED A DIFF. COLOR DUE NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND THE OEM COLOR. I DESPERATELY WANT TO GO BACK TO SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR TO THE OEM. THE COLOR I HAVE NOW DOES NOT SHINE LIKE THE OEM...I KNOW THE OEMS HAVE A COUPLE OF COATS ON THEM, INCLUDING A BLACK...BUT I ALSO KNOW THEY WERE RECALLED FOR COLOR DESCREPENCIES....
ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW THE CLOSEST POSSIBLE COLOR TO THE GT OEMS?

why don't you just repaint all 4 and be done with it. The OEM finish is multi-stage and is going to be near impossible to match perfectly.

I did paint all four...just trying to get all four back to closet OEM look... I called dealership, and they have no idea.

I would talk to a few different wheel refinishing guys and get their opinion.

BTW, do you have a link to any info on this wheel recall?

I went out today to get some professional opinions from wheel repair people...most had no clue. They simply had what they had and did not or could not provide any near-color match. One told me he could match the 18" 5-spoke finish but was not sure if it was the same as the GT rays. Another guy who's recommended by the dealership said he knew the paint color/code, and that he did not even have to dismount the tires to paint..mmmhh? He sounded like he was the only person on earth to have the "secret" color code. He's charging $150 p/wheel. His simple procedure did not sound very convincing, but I guess it might be legit, knowing that Nissan dealearship gave me his #... I also went to a couple powder coat specialists. They ranged from $170-300 p/ wheel depending on the color and procedure. The price to sandblast the wheels first is approx. $70 p/ wheel, plus the paint/labor. There were only a couple of colors that looked similar to the GT RAY's, but they were multi-layered...meaning approx. $275 /wheel. ouch! So....as of now, this is what I got : take my chances w/ the secret code man($600), powder coat w/ a so-so color ($680), powder coat w/ a nice milti-layer color ($1200!), settle w/ a common inexpensive paint color, or keep looking.... I hope someone else has more info ...and by the way, I DID try to get the "secret" color code/procedure from this guy.....but he said: "hey buddy, if you want, you could pay $1000 per wheel at the dealearship for new wheels!? ha! ha!

I had my 18/19 GT Rays powdercoated for ~$300 (and before you ask, yes, it was from a very reputable powdercoater). WTF place are you going that is charging $600-$1200 for powdercoat work????

And now they're on my car and btw... they were flawless so great quality for $300.

Also had my Saleen rims powdercoated gunmetal for $320 and they did an awesome job. $600 - $1200 is BS bro.

I think if I was going to do anything, I would powder coat Black – looks outstanding

But on the flip side I had one of mine repaired by a guy that does all of my dealership wheel repairs and he has that “special color”… Here is a picture of the before and after…Color matches perfectly and that lovely blue dot is gone (one down 3 to go). Note color is the same, the lighting was different b/c first was taken in the garage and the second was outside.

By the way is there anything that documents Nissan has recalled these wheels? This is the second time I heard this but nothing from NNA (imagine that).

I am dieing to know this as well. I looked all over and eventually just got them powdercoated a different silver color. Is there an actual code for this "mystery" color? Oh I also had a few paint shops around here try to call Rays, ect. and got no answer (surprise).

After my mom borrowed my car and lightly curbed my rear GT wheel, they matched the color perfectly. Finish wasn't as smooth to the touch as stock but visually it was identical.

I'd like to know this too if anybody finds out. I'm going to call mobilewheelrepair.com tomorrow and have them come out for mine. I'll post here if I can get a color...

I used mobilewheel repair and it was okay. it was still bumby as hell and they can only take care of curbage on certain parts of the wheels(not on bends). I personally was happier with just getting them completely powdercoated,so I might look into that as it was the same price as mobliewheel repair. Just trying to help out

read the hyper-silver section. A lot of wheels now a days come with this finish which makes it very hard to replicate and repair. Good info to read and educate yourself on various wheel finish techs.
