Default Which tire should I get?

I'll need to replace my OEM tires with some new ones real soon. I'm running with 18" OEM rims. Just want to get some opinions on these tires and see if anyone of you has any experience on these:

General Exclaim UHP: never thought about this brand before. But online reviews seem pretty good, nice tread wear, and it's cheap~!

Dunlop Direzza DZ101: never had any experience with Dunlop.

Falken Ziex ZE-912: Some of my friends have these and they seem to like it.

Falken FK 452: a bit more expensive than the 912. less tread wear, don't know the difference between this and the 912. Both Falkens were rated less than the General and Dunlop on the Discount Tire website (star rating).

Kumho Ecsta SPT: I've had Kumho before and liked it. The only problem is they don't have 245/45. Is there another size I can go to on the back with the OEM rims (245/40 or 245/50)?

Falken Azenis ST115: I know the Azenis Sport are nice, but what about these? Like the Kumhos, I need to go to another size for these (probablly 235/40F and 245/45R)

As you can see, I'm looking for a daily driver's shoes. I'm not looking for real sticky tires b/c they tend to be expensive and short lived, yet would like to have decent grip in dry and wet conditions. My budget is around 700-800.

Also, with OEM rims, besides 225/45F and 245/45R, what other combinations would work? I know OEM rims are 18x8 and 18x8.5, but don't know what my limits are with these. Would 245/40, 245/50, or 265/35 on the back work with 225/45 up front? What about 235/40F or 225/40F and 245/45R?

Thanks alot guys~! any suggestions are appreaciated~!!

Not one of the listed tires but 3 of my friends have tried Sumitomo HTR ZIII's and they can't shut up about them. They all roll on 18's btw.

"dirt cheap and great performance in wet/dry" from what they said. I'm not sure on the tire wear though but definitely worth considering from what they have told me.

your best bet is 245/40f and 275/40R. Tread width varies between brands. Some are much narrower comparing to others for the same size. i've had to return Bridgestone and Michelins tires because of it.
General Exclaims are currently on back order at tireracks. i ordered some last week. Also try onlinetires.com

I just ordered my second set of OEM size Toyo T 1 Rs from EdgeRacing for $656 plus $75 shipping. First set gave me 26,000 miles of quiet, good grip ride. Main issue with many here on T 1 Rs is soft sidewall. I don't run on the edge enough for that to bother me.

quick question, for all the people that buy tires online, where do they go to get them mount and balance? Discount tire? That's the only drawback i see about buying tires on the internet. Looking at this, if i factor in the shipping and mounting fees, it's almost the same as Discount Tire. The advantage buying online is I get more selections. Is this it? Or are there more advantages from buying online?

Ask for a shop recommendation in your regional forum.

the best price is to get them to price match online prices. Have a printout ready when you shop.....don't let them factor in the per tire shipping cost.
Have you been shopping for tires locally lately...even Costco prices are very expensive.

cyc5151, Les Schwab will mount tires for you & seem to have a good reputation.

I'm taking mine to the Nissan dealer because I want an alignment with the new tires and prefer to have a dealer shop do the alignment.

Just as a comparison for others here is my total cost: $656 (tires) + $75 (ship) + $232 (install & alignment) = $963. Probably could get install & alignment for $50 to $100 less but I trust the dealer.

According to CR, the top three in quality/performance are: 1. Dunlop. 2. Michelin. 3. Falken.
