Default 245/45r17

Will these fit the stock 17" rear wheels?

The fronts are 225/50R17. Will the height difference in the 45 on the back and the 50 on the front hurt anything?

It will fit, but if you use the tire calculator that size is actually smaller in diameter than the front. If I were you I would get a 255/45, the diameter is near identical with it being slightly larger than the front. You may experience bad handling performance with that size you listed for the rear. Also if you're VDC equipped it may throw that off too.

So will the 255/40 fit the stock 17" wheel? And you say the diameter is near identical?

I did that and here is what I came up with.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
235/50-17 4.6in 13.1in 26.3in 82.5in 768 0.0%
255/40-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.0in 78.6in 806 -4.6%
245/45-17 4.3in 12.8in 25.7in 80.7in 785 -2.2%

Sorry I meant 255/45, yes it should fit, the tire might bulge some. Maybe some others can chime in on that exactly. I am not 100% sure. Yes the diameter is near identical to the front.

The front tires are taller than the rear.

please do not make suggestions when you have no clue what you are talking about. that size will not fit the OEM 17" size

as for those sizes, the sidewall heights say it will work but the max width wheel you can safely stick onto a 17 x 7.5 wheel is 235, and for the rear 17 x 8.0 is the same. anything over those widths and you will have overhang and uneven wheel wear causing you to have to replace tires more frequently and have a very crappy ride best bet if you want wider tires is to get the proper sized wheels then get the right sized tires.

^What he said. I just didn't know the stock wheel widths so wasn't sure 255 would work.

How do you know that I havent said "Thanks" in a PM to someone?

If you really need a "Thanks" give me some worthy information that will actually help me make a decision as to what type of tires I could put on the rears that would be both affordable and safe.

"Thanks" in advance...

I Last year I got 245/45/17 in the rear. It threw off the TCS and the car was definitely not stable. I switched back to stock dimmensions.

Well I have 235/45/17 front and 245/45/17 rear with no problems at all. I don't have VCD though but the rear is still larger O.D. than the front. Handling is much better too.
