I just got my 06' 350z back in march. I am EXTREMELY happy with it. It has the stock 18 inch 5 spoke 'anniversary rims'. The cars color is red with a nismo spoiler.
I saw a black G35 with the stock rims powder coated black and looked very sharp and clean. How do you think the car would look if the rims were powder coated solid black? I want solid black rims but i love the offset of the stock rims.

I've witnessed it first hand on two cars.

I had a set of 17" OEM rims that were powdercoated black. I used these rims for autocross and never had any issues. Just make sure the powdercoater knows what they're doing with the rims -- if the temperature is too high, it will weaken the structural integrity of the rims, thus they will crack. There's only one or two rims that I've seen here in the forum that have cracked BUT you have dozens, maybe even hundreds, that are doing fine. Powdercoating is safe for your stock rims.

I haven't seen anyone here with cracked OEM wheels due to powdercoating. If there is, I'm willing to bet it was a result of poor powdercoating, which DOES happen.
I have had a number of wheels powdercoated, and I know a ton of people that have had their wheels done. Lots of Subie guys do it on their forged wheels that they take to the track with no issues. Just avoid Joe Schmo Powdercoating and go to a reputable place to have the work done.
