Actually it's 7 spokes not 6. And Yes, the factory chrome wheel is 5 spokes.

+1 I'm 99.99% sure there is even a bulletin or leaflet stating that chrome plating the stock wheels would void any warranties or damages assocaited with the wheels because it was shown that chroming the wheels caused cracking issues.

Also, those don't look like the right model to be factory chromed. You should be going after the dealer that sold them to you, not Nissan in general.
*edit* Sorry, pics were already posted proving this.

In addition to a Z car enthusiast, I am also a pilot and aircraft owner. As such, I have known of guys who had their spinners (the cone shaped piece in front of the propeller) chromed. Not long after having this done, cracks were detected in the area of the spinner that mates to the spinner bulkhead.

Why? Well, it turns out aluminum and chromium are dissimilar metals, and the chromium was both overstressing and weakening the aluminum.

I have to assume the same thing has occurred here.

Sorry for your loss OP!

I remember hearing issues about Sevas wheels from the NTSB and while searching their site I came upon a safety alert regarding 350Z wheels from 05-07.

There were 2 accidents that the office investigated and determined that both were caused by the "aftermarket re-chroming process"

Here is a link to the page:

maybe?

You don't have a case, NIssan did not Chrome those, it is aftermarket chroming! You have 17's, OEM chrome are 18's!

Contact your insurance company because you have no claim with Nissan!

WOW, my professor always told me that different sort of metal won't mix together well. I never believe him until now.

Why is everyone so sue happy? File your claim with your insurance company. They will pay to have your vehicle repaired. In turn they will file a claim against Nissan to recover their money. If Nissan chromed the wheels and it was a defect (appears to be) then they will reimburse the insurance company. I wouldn't sit around with a busted car going after Nissan...that'll take forever and probably go nowhere. Plus what would he sue for besides the damage to his car? Do you know how much a judge/jury would laugh you out of court if you sued for emotional distress because your wheel fell off haha. Come on people.
