Exclamation Need quick community advice! SSR DR5 19"

Hey everyone,

My 2006 350z came used with some gross aftermarket chrome rims and I've been looking hard to find some replacements. I came across a used set of SSR wheels with tires on eBay. I entered a bid on this set, but was outbid by the winner, he apparently defaulted and now I have a second chance offer to buy them. They seem to be in good condition, but I'm unsure of what to estimate their value at. I'm also somewhat unsure of the quality of SSR...

Here are the specs for the wheels: 19" SSR D5R Forged wheels, bronze with chrome-polished lip. Front: 19 x 9, +25 offset and rear: 19 x 10, +24 offset.

Here is the link to the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...id=p2759.l1259

These are exactly the fitments I want on my 350z, however, I don't know if the price is right!

I need feedback asap!

What color is your car?
They have potential, but the polished lip is wayy overplayed, but whatever floats your boat i guess. $800 sounds about right depending on the condition of the wheels, and you're getting tires as well, so... Weigh your priorities carefully

SSR DR5s are good wheels. They are discontinued! TireRack was selling them for really cheap while supplies lasted. The price is fair especially w/ tires. If you're local, definitely go out and check them before purchasing for any type of damage and see if they’re worth the $.

Yeah, I'm not local.. that's the problem. I sent the guy a message asking a bunch of questions though.

My Z is red. I think bronze and red go good together... I think it would look pretty good! Bronze and red is a combination I don't see too often and that may give me something to set myself apart with, or get picked on, I guess.

Dude, I would contact ebay and see if the second chance offer to buy them is for real. It has been a major ebay scam in the past!!! Be carefull!

True. I'm pretty sure it's legit though. I have the message in my eBay inbox, too.

Speed Star Wheel (made by SSR) D5R are not forged like the ebay listing says, they are 2 piece cast. They are decent quality, but these are not going to be as light a set of Volk GT-C's. I have these in silver on my Z and they've held up very well for the past 2 years. Price looks pretty good to me, I'd probably go check 'em out if I was local.

I thought all SSR's were Semi-Solid Forged (Pressure Cast).

The center is SSF pressure cast, the rim is cast and anodized. These were produced right around the same time frame SSR Japan filed for bankruptcy with 6.7bil yen in debts back in 2005. Just wanted to point out that while these are durable and crack-resistant wheels, they are not in the same weight bracket as a Volk/HRE/Forgeline forged aluminum wheel. My 18x10.5's are around 25lb and 18x18.5's are around 24lb each.

I wouldn't offer more than $900 for them. I'm selling mines with worse offsets though for $500. And to me, tires don't mean too much extra

I have these on my PPW Z. I have 19x9 and 19x10.5 and they are fantastic wheels Very good quality and reasonably light. I have hit some major pot holes with these things and dont have a single dent!

If you want...I can forward some pictures to you.

the reason I quoted the above statement is because when I was making my decision on wheels...I was going back and forth between the D5Rs and the GT-Cs. They don't looks like replicas...the D5Rs have a slimmer spoke design which comes down to the lip in a different manner. I would highly recommend them.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have been emailing this guy and haven't gotten a response... kind of weird if you ask me. I'm not even going to consider paying until he sends something back.
