my wife did this in her pathfinder 3 weeks ago. When I picked it up at the dealer, the repair was around $700, and that was giving us discounts on the parts and not charging book rate, thank god... the dealer is great that way.. That was new axle shaft, flange, and wheel bearing. Nothing else because the PF is a tank. Anyway, I said, "how much would this have been in the G coupe or a Infiniti FX?" My wife had wanted a FX, and its on the same platform as we are. The service manager said "we see it every week... it can hit 2k or more."

Sorry, hope its not the major for you. It's just a number thrown out there... But it was recently and this shop usually gives me straight answers.

just hard to guess.. The subframe itself is not outrageously expensive. The drive line stuff is not cheap however.

check this link, it has the best diagrams to find OE parts and prices. these prices are obviously more than the discount that body shops get (but is marked up to you of course). I have found these prices are about what the dealer should be charging you. Or you could always just get those parts from one of the dealership vendors, probably save even more.

well, a member decided to sell one of his OEM wheels for 250$ so we'll start with the expenses there. so far so good! haha i'm going to get the body shop estimate and list of parts and how much he's charging and compare them with courtesyparts. he wants to see if he can replace them with used parts, but its a brand new 08. i dont know if i want used parts. used parts bad idea or good??

christ man, why don't you just make an insurance claim and be done with it? And what body shop gets USED parts? You are starting to not make much sense...and $250 for one non-Rays OEM wheel is expensive.

insurance wanted me to take car in for pictures before they would instate my collision coverage, so i only had my liability at the time- for that reason, its all coming out of my pocket. good thing i asked about the OEM price, though he's selling me 2 wheels for $275. i brushed the bodyshop off on the used parts business, told him i want brand new oem parts. im not putting used parts on my brand new z. any recommendations for places for oem parts? im taking the list of parts that the body shop gives me to see if i can get the parts for a better price than the shop.

I'm not sure I understand the insurance thing; I assume you paid cash for the Z, but if the car was brand new why did they need pictures to instate coverage? That sounds realy odd.

Courtesy is going to be your best bet for OEM parts I would think, but any body shop worth a damn will inspect your car and let you know what needs to be purchased. Most of the time the prices that a body shop will give you for the parts will be very low anyway, and it is much less hassle for them to order everything in and do the work instead of you going out and buying stuff for them to install.
