Your first line was off topic and second line was on topic.

Anyway, I already checked. There are many, of course, but unless you want to tell me the offsets, weights, bolt pattern sizes, etc of each random wheel the search returns, I'm just going to stick to Mustang 15 inchers on eBay.

So, nobody knows of any 15" wheels that have our bolt pattern, have useable offset, at the very least? What a huge let down. I've found more information by random researches.

Chris,

You may be better off asking this in the Drag forum here (you probably have also, I just didn't look). It will be almost impossible to get the answers you're looking for here because you're only cool here if you have 19" Volks.

OT = On Topic.

So that's why I placed 'OT' in front of my second statement.

What's the bolt pattern and 'minimum offset' that would be acceptable, and what you are looking for?

Eric, it's already been done.

Vnarang, usually, OT refers to Off Topic (as seen by our sub-forum, aka The Lounge), but ok. The bolt pattern for our cars is 5x114.3 or 5x4.5. As far as the offset, I'm not entirely sure. For actual drag race wheels, the backspacing that we're supposed to get (and I had) are 5.5", but with my fenders being rolled, I think I might be able to get away with 4.75" BS.

Take a look at the wheel I linked in post 12. That wheel's BS is 4.75" or +6 offset. I really like those and they're really cheap. However, with the ridiculous squat the car does when launching on slicks, I'm afraid they might rub with the initial launch squat. Hence, my search for something slightly less aggressive, while meeting the above mentioned criteria.

You might also want to take into consideration that my car is lowered with the Hotchkis springs.

edit - Maybe a better question might be, will I have fitment/rubbing issues going with a 15"x8" (or 4.75" backspace) wheel with an offset of +6 in the rear? The tire will be 25.9" tall and has a tread width of 8.1".

No help, huh?

What happened to all those who shout "offset" everywhere? It seems most people were just reciting the spec numbers they read, instead of actually knowing how to calculate offsets.

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...%2F5&tc=UNI297

discount tire
unique wheel steel wheels
297
15X8 5-4.5 6B
i dont know about how discount tires shows their specs but i'm guessing a +6 offset for a b type brake disc size.. 5-4.5 is i dont know... but i searched for 5x114.3 and it came up.

Hmm, interesting. If you scroll up and find the links I posted, there's a wheel that looks almost identical to that. The one I posted is cheaper, but thanks for an alternative. I've a couple more that may fit, but people here only like to ride the bandwagon and really don't know anything since they're just repeating what they read on some piece of paper.

What exactly is a "b type brake disc size?"

The 5-4.5 is the bolt pattern. And I'm guessing the 6B is 6" backspacing?

i'm as confused as you are with the 6b... but ya know how some wheel companies categorize their wheels by offset and brakes/brake disc size? well if that's the case then B would fit just fine in the rear.

they were the decent set out of discount tires lineup of 15's, they go even wider to 15x10 but the offset was -38? I dunno, maybe its a dash and not a negative..but it was a bit more pricier.

not much of a nice selection on the 15's but if it'll fit go for it!

I'm really leaning against getting the ones I posted up early on in this thread. Those are by far the cheapest and one of the better looking ones out there. There's another one that I'm looking at, but it has a slightly higher price tag (it looks better too).

I'm still waiting on the seller to get back to me so I could send him the money for the slicks. After I get the slicks, I'll be buying the wheels. Good thing the track's close. Otherwise, I'd be going crazy due to lack of traction at the track and no slicks/wheels to use.

No, I'm actually asking for help from people, who apparently only pretend to know about offsets. Where are these so called "wheel and offset experts?"

I suspect that the people that really understand offsets are turned off by your attitude.

http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

There's a link to the best tire/wheel/offset calculator on the 'Net. Figure them out for yourself.

Those sentence refer to most people who are the first ones to say "that's too tucked in" or "you need spacers."

To those who genuinely know that particular area, I didn't mean any disrespect to them. I've seen some people explain and help out others with problems finding the right size with the best offset before.

I see.

Don't undervalue the link to the Java applet I sent you. It is a very powerful tool for calculating tire sizes and wheel offsets.

Put the wheel and tire combination you currently have on your car on the left hand side of the chart and the wheel you want to use on the right hand side of the chart. Make sure all the wheel/tire/offset information is correct for your original and new setup. Notice that the images change when you modify tire/wheel specifications.

Scroll down and look at the table information. Lots of good information on tire diameters... sidewall heights... Then scroll down to the clearance section... It will explain how the new tire/wheel combination fits on your car, relative to your current/existing tires. Very helpful.

This is a lot better than relying on other peoples comments regarding wheel offsets and how they will fit on your car. Always better to figure things out for yourself.

Check it out...

Yeah, I was going to take some measurements inside my rear quarter panel this weekend and see what my max offset could be.

I'll definitely check out the site you linked to later tonight. Thank you.

You said that the tread width is 8.1" (I'm guessing "footprint"). You also need to calculate total tire width since that's what you're dealing with here. Don't want to assume that the 8.1" tread width would work and then squat so hard that you do nothing but rub the rest of the tire width.

8.5" wide with 8.1" of contact patch and 25.9" tall. I got the tires on check.

__jb, I'm checking out the website you linked me and if my calculations and my thought process is correct, that site is tremendously helpful. Thank you, sir. It looks like I'm getting them with 4" backspacing (-13mm offset).
