Default Safe to stretch a 225/45R18 onto a 9.5" rim temporarily?

My logic is telling me no but I couldn't find an answer so I thought I'd ask.

I'm having my stock '08 rims replaced under warranty and I am going to be getting 18x9.5 NISMO LMGT4s all around.

Can I have the stock 225/45R18 tire put onto the new 9.5" rim to drive it home 5 miles until I get my other tires?

Yes. Its safe until the tires falls off the wheel.

Absolutely not. You'd BARELY be able to pull it off on a 245 tire. But on a 225, you have no chance.

are you kidding. Barely be able to pull off a 245 on a 9.5" wheel. I've seen it a thousand times here. Not stretched.

I think you could do a 225/45 for emergency purposes but that's it.

im running 225 40 18 on a 9.5 and its perfectly fine !! its not an intense stretch at all !! obviously you wouldnt go out onto a track and handle the **** out of the car with these !! but for daily driven use you have no prob !

here's the wheels and the tires ! you'll be fine !!

Well there we have it. It is possible. If he can drive around everyday like that I can make it home and back to shop no problems then. I like this answer. Means I don't have to go buy tires on my credit card. One less American in debt!

Looks pretty nice actually. Have any side shots?

I think it depends on the rim...to some extent. In the above picture, it seems to fit just fine. However, my brother has 9.5 inch wide LE37s up front with 245s, and even they are a tad bit stretched. 225s would just be ridiculous.

Here is an idea...why don't you just bring your tires to have the mounted onto your LMGT4s...and save yourself the hassle?

If anything, I wouldn't cut any corners. Assuming you're getting the 8.5/9.5 Nismo LMGT4 setup...run 245s up front, and 275s in the rear. That setup will be alot better than running 225s out back

it might depend on the rim a bit !! but more so i believe its more about the type of tire you use !! cause every tire stretches different !! i have hankook v4es and they stretched nicely !! not to intense and good for daily driven use !!

here's is the best side pics i could scoop sorry they were taken with my iphone n they look like crap but maybe it'll do some good !

Why must you have a negative comment for everything? Cheer up a little and enjoy all the Z's on this site instead! If it works for the guy the more power to him!

I don't want to put the tires on my credit card but I probably am going to now anyways just to avoid any headaches.

225/40/19 is ridiculous. (unless slammed and you are going for a stretched look with good offsets, even then i'd run this size in the front) 225/40/18 is stupid. mounting a 225/40/18 on the rear of a Z would equate to a 1.5-1.6 inch LOSS in over diameter of wheel/tire combo. Say hello to wheel gap, say hello to 6% speedo error and logging more miles on your car then actual... although your ride height would be .8inches lower..

EVERYONE SEE THIS GUYS POST

I don't plan on keeping the car this way for more than a drive home and to a tire shop. Nothing else.

Also the stock 245s will be put on the rear so its not 225 all around. Not that this even matters
