Actually...... I am now running an 18" rear wheel all around. I have a 275/35/18 in the front and a 305/35/18 in the rear. But the 18" front and the 19" rear was fine I just wanted a 305 tire. I was using a 295/30/19. The 305/30/19 was only approved for a 10.5" rim and I am using a 10" wide rim. The 305/35/18 can be used on a 10" wide rim so I went that route so now I have 18's all around.
well im figuring if you can run a 305 on a 10'' rim then a 295 on a 10'' rim will be just fine! and once again thank you!
Just go by the manufacturers recomended rim/tire width chart. You'll always be safe.
The 305/35/18 is approved for a 10" rim in the 18" size becasue of the taller sidewall. You should not put a 305/30/19 on a 10" wheel as per the manufacturers specs don't allow it. The height of the sidewall plays a factor.
My 285 R888s are pretty darn wide. I have a pair on 10.5" wheels and they look slightly stretched because of the 30 sidewall. The other pair is on 9" wheels and they look slightly pillowed.
Many people put 275s on 9" wheels, that's sort of the "accepted maximum" on a 9" wheel. Rules of thumb are to add 10mm of tire width for every 1/2" (12mm) of additional wheel width, putting the 295 at the lower acceptable limit on a 10" wheel. I see no problem with it myself.
