Default tire pressure senor is not working? Help

I bought my 350Z about month and a half ago. When I bought my car, it had chrome wheels and dealer wanted to charge me $2000 more so I told the dealer to switch the wheels with another touring model. From the very first day I got my car, tire pressure sensor was not working but I did not worry too much because the dealer told me that they just have to get them recalibrated. What I decided to do was wait until I got new wheels (SSR GT3) and take it to the dealer to recalibrate the tire pressure senor. Today, I took my car to the dealer and they said it was going to be $45. Thats fine, I was expecting that since I have after market wheels but few hours later, the dealer called me and said that all 4 tire pressure is not reading. They said it was odd that all 4 were not working. They also said that it might be the after market wheels. Is anyone else having same problem? I have SSR GT3.

Thanks.

Sounds like the dealer did NOT replace the tire pressure sensors when they swapped your wheels/tires.

I bet you will need to buy 4 new sensors for $100+ each!

Ouch!

Out of curiosity (and to clarify), when I get my 19" Volks, I can simply buy another set of sensors, install them on the Volks, and bam, I'm good to go?

On a side note, do you think these sensors throw off our balance or am I the only one with a noticeable amount of balancing weights on the back of my rims?

You can as long as you have the TPS hub that is part of the system and you initialize the new sensors to be read by the hub.

I just wanted to give you an update on my tire pressure sensor.

After going to 2 different dealers & calling Nissan Consumer Affairs, I had no luck so I decide to calll Universal Nissan where I purchased my car. I told them the whole story. That I got my wheels switched from chrome to non-chrome at the time of purchase. That my tires pressure senor was not working from day 1 I bought my car. Also I told them that I got an after market wheels and I took the car to 2 different dealers to try to get my tire senor recalibrate. One dealer told me that all four senors were defected and the other dealer told me that I did not have the tire senors. I talked to the Service Manager Anthony at universal Nissan. He said to bring the car in. He said that he had the same problem after getting his track wheels chromed. The computer could not detect the senors but his tech told him how get it to read. This morning I took the car to the Universal Nissan and it took them 5 min. to get the pressure senor to read the pressure and not it works now. People at Universal Nissan were very knowledgable about the Z. Anthony was Great.
