Default tire size ?

So I've finally pulled the trigger to get rid of my 20" Axis Shines for some lightweight 18" Enkei RFP1s. I can't wait to feel the difference of an almost 50lb drop in weight not to mention I'll finally feel comfy taking my car out on road courses. I'm lowered on Ksport coilovers and have the SPC camber and toe kit for the rear, and my RFP1s are 18x9.5 and 18x10.5 +15 offset. I've done searches and looked around a lot and found people recommend 265/35/18 and 285/35/18. The tires I want are only offered in 285/40/18... will I have issues running this setup? I normally ride with my car pretty low as I like the look of almost no fender gap but I'm also shifting more to performance than looks now so if needed I'll go higher. Will 40 series tires on the back look too big? Should I do 35 all around? Questions questions..... thanks guys and can't wait to take pics when all my work is done. It's going to be a HUGE change with the new bumper (Shine CF V2) and wheels.

The most common setup would be 245/275. With those low offsets you probably can't fit much more than a 285 in the rear, maybe a 295.

What tire size are you coming from? Do you feel that it understeered too much or oversteered too much?

Tires are expensive, do it right the first time.

I'm thinking of running the BFGoodrich G Force KDW2... I'd like some really good street tires I can road race and autocross once a month or less. If anyone else has opinions for other tires please post your input. I'm in Baton Rouge so every day during the summer it rains at 4PM so wet traction is very important. I don't plan on running too much negative camber because I want the tires to wear evenly and I don't plan on drifting too much other than the occasional powerslide on the street. thanks for all the concerned and not flaming responses by the way it's good to see people still try to help others and not just bash.

** to answer the other question I'm running 255/35/R20 in front (trips out the VCD computer bad...hate it) and 285/30/R20 in rear. So far however I've been lowered with no camber correction so my tires disappear like ninjas... POOF. They are Bridgestone Potenze RE760???? I made the mistake of having firestone put them on which is why my VCD hates me but this time I'm trying like hell to get the perfect setup.**
I'm not sure how to answer if the car understeered/oversteered too much because I never drove it on stock tires and I'm too much of a noob to be able to accurately answer that question (at least I admit it lol) but I'm really satisfied with the car now with everyday driving except when I try to slide it. I find the rear end to be VERY unpredictable and sometimes it can feel like trying to stop the swing of a sledgehammer to get it back in line.

No, your VDC hated it because your rear tire diameter was slightly smaller than the front diameter. Other folks running 255/35-20 and 285/30-20 have reported VDC issues here on my350z and on g35driver. Your VDC requires that you maintain a staggered fitment with the rear tire being between .25 - .75 inches larger in diameter than the rear. Keep that in mind when selecting tire sizes for your new setup.

Your rear offset of +15 is pretty agressive. Are your rear fenders already rolled? If not, I think will need to roll your fenders... especially if you don't plan on running too much camber, as you mentioned. For comparison, I run 19 x 11 +35 offset on my G with 305/30-19 tires. I had to roll my fenders to get 305's to fit. With a +15 offset, I'm thinking you will need to roll your fenders to get a 285 to fit.
