Angry chrome rims disaster

this is to let everyone know if you bought your z with chrome rims you are in for a big surprise. i was having my z serviced at dealer and they where very kind to let me know all 4 rims where cracked and car was not safe to drive. they quoted me 3067.00 for a set of new ones. i have in my hands a service bulletin from nissan advising dealers to quit chroming rims cause it weakens them and will crack. thats exactly what mine did. so my advise is to take your car back to dealer before you have a serious accident. the dealer will try to give you the run around so call nissan customer service. this is very serious matter can you imagine your rim falling apart at a high rate a speed. you can be seriously injured or worst yet death.

Welcome to the forum. Welcome to last year (when the news about the rims came out). Here's the full story... https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-tire...0z-wheels.html

Note that the problem is not with factory chromed rims, but with re-chromed rims. Those are the ones being done improperly.

Sorry to hear your rims cracked, for $3000 screw getting OEM rims you can get something quality like Volk, Work, iForged, DPE, etc.

I don't understand how anyone can like those chrome rims, but to each their own I suppose.

P.S. If you spend 3 grand on those wheels AGAIN, or any factory rim, you have one thing left to do.. shoot your self in the foot.
