Default Why do Volks use stickers?

My wife asked me a question the other day. Why do expensive "high-end" wheels like Rays employ the use of stickers that can leave faded lettering, peel/tear off after an extended period of time?

"It makes the wheels look cheap...why don't they just engrave it?"

So needless to say, anyone know why they still use stickers on some wheels?

I agree, they would look a lot better engraved. Maybe engraving makes them less strong?

...so you're paying high dollar for something you may strip off?

In that case, RAYS should sell it without the vinyl stickers(= not cheap according to nexx) and for those that want to have it on...buy the stickers and accessorize away.

well I think you guys helped answer my question.

Engraving could harm the structural integrity of the wheels, plus throw the wheels out-of-balance.

The only question she should be asking is whether you want mayo or mustard on your sammich.

Volk wheels are so strong that they can only be engraved with a diamond.

most of the wheels do have some sort of RAYS or VOLK lettering on the side of the rim to identify the wheel:

as for the stickers.. they are definitely not cheap. like $1xx for the set IF you can get them from Mackin.... they aren't vinyl, more like screen printed decals/laser printed...

yeah i wouldn't ever worry about rays stickers coming off unless you use some sort of acid based cleaner on your wheels which you shouldn't be..

these are very high quality stickers.

I had to replace the stickers on 2 of my GT-Ps I had on my S13 a while back... Cost me $20 each for the blue Volk Racing stickers from A Spec and they had to check on the insides of the wheels for the Ray's Engineering stickers to be sure they werent knockoffs otherwise they wouldnt sell em to me.

Like Nexx said they probably do it for those that want a completely clean look. If you spend that much for wheels you should have the option.

But then again there are those that only buy them because of the name, so the stickers are a must. *not talking about you Nexx*
