Hey guys, thought I would post in here to reach a more broad audience, rather than just sticking to the nismo section where they only post once a month in there (JK). I am looking at getting new tires for my nismo z, and i have narrowed it down to being the michelin pilot sport ps2, possibly. I am thinking of going F/I by years end I want to have the maximum grip available. I want to know, aside from keeping the front tires at their 245/40/18 size the same, am I able to go to a 275/35/19, up from a 265/35/19 from the Bridgestones? I don't want to get wide to the point where I have to get new wheels because I love the gunmetal Rays on them right now. I would appreciate any input!![thumbup](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/biggthumpup.gif)

well I feel that it could be done, but if I could go bigger on the stock rims without worrying about it looking sorta retarded, then that will work. I was set on doing a 275 mm tire, but if I can go 285, then why not? A little more rubber never hurt nobody.

I have been debating the same thing. I have the '06 GT, so my wheel/tire sizes are the same as yours. As near as I can tell, you can go to a 255 up front and a 275 in the rear without a problem both in fit as well as VDC. Even for a VDC car like mine, the 275 rear with no change in the front should be OK.
Personally, I think the 245 front and 265 rear look a little stretched on our rim sizes. I think the 255/275 combination will give just a tiny bit more grip and won't look as stretched.
In the meantime, I picked up a set of V1 Touring wheels with the stock tires from a guy that drove maybe 500 miles on them before he replaced them with aftermarket. For $600 I got essentially new tires and so I have a bit more time to make a decision. Once I wear down the tires on that set I'll put some winter tires on them.
My front tires on my GT rims need to be replaced quickly because of camber wear, but my rear aren't too bad. I have considered just buying a pair of used tires for the front to use until the rear need to be replaced as well.

yeah thats exactly what i was thinking. I don't want the tires to look like theyre potruding off the rim, and i dont want it to look like im tryin to go for the "porsche" look. I dont have VDC in my car cause its a Nismo, so the issues arising from that don't bother me. I just want to keep the function and form of the car, and still have a slight advantage in grip.
