volk gt-s camber question
I am about to mount my wheels Volk Gt-s. 19s +17/+18 offsets.
i went to a performance shop near by my house and they told me that with offsets this agressive the tires are only going to last 2000-4000 miles. that sounded a bit crazy to me.
i thought that once i lowered it with Tanabe GF210 and added the Eibach Rear Camber/ Toe kit that the tires would not wear that fast. if i adjust the camber to -2.0 or -1.5 how fast will my tires wear?
im planning on running 255/35f 285/35R. possibly nitto invo. I know that I will have to get my fenders rolled.
my car is a daily driver and I was hoping that tires will last me at least 10,000 miles. any info or advice would be great

if u get some camber arms ull last more than 10k miles. offsets dont have much to do with tire wear. camber and toe... make sure u get the rear toe links also, cuz u dont wanna be scrubbin those 285s.
i have my tein basics as low as they go in the rear and only like 2/3 of my 295/30 tires are touching the ground, haha!
NICE WHEEL SELECTION BTW!

i didnt think that sounded right. What kind of camber are people running with these rims. is running negative 2 going to last me a decent amount of miles or will that cause uneven and drastic tread wear?

Step 1 is find a better shop. Step 2 is buy the SPC camber arms and toe bolts (maybe $200 for all of it), and find a more reputable shop to install them (hopefully no more than $200). Sure it's $400 up front, but it will save you $280 per tire a couple times over.
ohSIXz is right....it's really important that you get the toe bolt kit installed to reduce the toe angle so you don't scrub those tires. Too much toe is just as much of a culprit as too much camber when talking about wearing out your inner edge.

are the spc camber arms and toe bolts the same thing as eibach rear camber/ toe kit? what is the optimal degree of camber i can run. i want tread life most importantly but also agressive look that a -2 camber gives. thanks for the help.
I just want to make sure I do it right the first time around so i dont end up spending more money in the long run.

optimal? For a street car, really no reason to run more than ~1.5 front/rear camber, and minimal toe. The car will look plenty aggressive by virtue of the wheels alone. Excessive camber makes the car (and owner) look retarded IMHO. The tire does no good spinning in the air...you want it on the ground

Been dropped on GF210s for 2x,xxx miles. On my second set of tires, first set had 50% tread or more when I got rims.. thats bullsh1t. No camber kits here, just an alignment.

Got the exact same wheels and offsets you mentioned, with 285/35's and 255/35's Nitto Invo's on Tein Type Flex. Added Cusco upper control arms and had to roll the rears a little. Wore out my first set of rears pretty quick at auto-x with nothing noticable on the fronts. My second set of rears still look brand new...but I only have 8500 miles on the car.

^^ How much camber are you running in the rear? I dont want to go coilovers just yet, I was planning only on dropping with springs first and adding rear camber kit.
i was hoping to run -1.5 to -2.0 camber ( i dont want to go any more than that) with 285/35s in the rear dropped on tanabe gf210s with rear camber kit....and of course fenders rolled. Just trying to figure out if its possible

I hate to say this, but I'm not sure exactly what the camber is. My car is not slammed, but has a good stance with that "bigger" tire setup and looks good. The guy that did my alignment said he was able to get it real close. There is no unusual wear on the inside of my tires.
