Right way to screw on Lug Nuts?

Default Right way to screw on Lug Nuts?

So spending 130$ on Rays Lugs I dont want to mess them up.. They have already been molested by a tire shop and a ring is already around them.. How do you put lugs on without scratching them/removing paint?

Dumb question? ;o

I've went through three sets because I get tired of colors fast lol but If your just swapping them I take one off and replace it right then instead of taking all of them off of a wheel and screw it on by hand with the your lug socket and when you torque them (90 lbs) torque them super slow.

oh and after getting them all on one wheel go back and torque them all again...then after 20 or 30 miles torque them again

Are you worried about the paint on the wheel?

I wrap my socket in electrical tape to prevent any metal-to-metal contact.

I thread each lug in with the socket and extension, which I screw in with my hand. Once I have them snug, I torque them down slowly in a star pattern. I have the Nismo black lugs. They're still in great condition.

These sockets have an inner liner as well as a rubber outer liner to protect both wheel and lug nut:
