best tires
Hi,
I was just curious as to which tires people feel are the best on the 350z. I'm not looking to race but would like to have my next set of tires (currently have the stocks) to have good grip and reliability. Thanks,

lots of people like the Bridgestone SO-3...
I have Bridgestone SO-2 on my OEM Track model wheels...
You don't say which wheels, so I'll throw a few others out there:
Yokohama AVS ES100
Kumho Ecsta MX
Dunlop SP Sport 9000

I just dropped $880.00 including tax on Toyo Proxies T1-S for stock 18"s. The handling and ride are substantially better than stock. Having owned Proxies before, I expect 35k to 40k miles on these new shoes.
I might try out S03s sometime because you can't really go wrong with either of the two. The biggest thing you need to worry about is to vigilently maintain proper air pressure and alignment because not being able to rotate tires on the Z reduces the overall life.

I got 16K miles on the stock fronts and 20K on the rears.
My fronts are now Yokohama AVS ES100 245/40-18
The rears are now Hankook Ventus Sport K104 245/45-18
Both seem to be fine (I now have a bit over 22K miles) but the Hankooks seem to go side-to-side a little when going on those highways with the grooves in the surface (tram-lining I think it's called).
Both of these tires are pretty cheap. I would have purchased the T1-S, but they weren't readily available.
I've decided that since I'm getting about 20K miles on the tires (did some track days and autoX), I'd go cheap instead of good. We'll see how long these last. I now have race tires for the AutoX, so that alone should help improve the life of the street tires.
I think if you want good tires, the T1-S, S0-3, or those goodyears would be a safe bet. Also, if you can find them, the Bridgestone KD series (not the KDW) seem to be very highly rated.

Whatever you choose, don't get Kumhos. I bought a set last year, and at 10k miles I had one tire blow completely out in the inside wall. I called Kumho and they refused to warranty it since I didn't have the receipt on the alignment I had done. The rest of the tires are shot too.

Continental contiextreme are great tires for about $600 a set. They are also very light and handle well. Not very much road noise and can go on snow. I have a set of 235/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear mounted on O.Z Superleggera 18X9 all around.

+1 on Khumos. Worst tires I ever owned. Remember tread wear is only within a company so you cannot compare treadware rating on one brand vs. another.
