HRE 840R Wheels
Hi,
I am considering the HRE 840R Wheels for my silverstone zee; would be most appreciative if those of you with the 840R wheels would post pictures of their zee.

It is due to the cost that I am giving it so much thought before biting the bullet. I am rerunning the scenario repeatedly in my head.
It is between the Fikse profil 5S and the HRE 840R, I hear that the HRE(s) are more durable. Both the Fikse and HRE are clean, well made, perfect finish, emphasis on detail, repairable, made to order/fit, ya-da, ya-da
If you had to shell out an additional $900 for the HRE wheels versus the Fikse; would you still pick the HRE?

Nobody has done the 840R series on a 350Z yet... it would be a sweet look. The 840R series have even more brake caliper clearance than the HRE 540R series. This means big brakes and a deep lip can be had.
Please note that the Fikses are not available with a 'reverse' lip and Kinesis are only available in 18R and 19R (not 20R).
BTW, the Lexus above is my car... that's actually the 841R style, in 20x9 and 20x10. This car gets TONS of looks! (body kit and big brakes coming late Sept.)

Personally I am drawn by the bowed-profile spokes and the clean-contour rim, achieved by the hidden assembly bolts. …wider lip and ample room for super sized brakes.
I also hear that the HRE(s) are engineered with top quality aircraft aluminum to become one of the strongest wheels on the market.
Is that a fact?
Granted that the HRE 840R series are exquisitely crafted, which places them apart from other custom engineered 3-piece construction design…………..and, although I am 80% sold on them (19” x 8.5 and 19” x 10); HREWheelMaker, kindly enlighten me as to why the HRE 840R series are way, way above the competition in cost.
Wheels and brakes are some of the components that I depend on to carry me (and mine) safely from one point to another, apart from serving as eye-candy; and obviously I demand only the best to sit on.
In any event, I am always impressed when manufacturers prowl the boards to personally feel out the relationship between the product and the market.

And, as for brakes, initially it was the Brembos, but now it is between the Stop-Techs and A/P(s).

1. I can say this, Alan and Bob at HRE are guys that love cars, love wheels and they will take care of you at HRE. When you buy an HRE, you are buying excellence and service before, during, and after the sale. I own a set of them so I speak from experience.
2.HREWheelMaker/Bob, I dropped by HRE yesterday, too bad you were not there. I wanted you to be able to finally check out my 445's on my Z.
I will be at the Mossy Nissan car show in Oceanside tomorrow at 11am so if you get the urge to check out some nice Nissans, see you guys there.

I'm glad to hear you ordered the HREs... you will not be disappointed.
I did want to address your questions, however!
This is absolutely true. Other manufacturers do use 6061-T6 forged aluminum, but there is more to creating a wheel than just the base material.
The 840R series was a ground-up design with NO compromises made. We spent countless hours designing, refining, analyzing, prototyping, and testing these wheels. Some of the technology was born out of our experience R&D'ing the Saleen S7 wheels, which HRE builds as the Original Equipment wheel for this $400,000 supercar.
Obviously, the 840R series are beautiful. They were designed to address a portion of potential HRE clients who loved the quality and craftsmanship of our wheels, but didn't like the 'busyness' of the exposed assembly hardware. While we were at it, we gave them clearance for monter brakes systems with the capability of using deep outer lips.
It's what you can't necessarily see that makes these wheels exclusive and expensive. For example, the outer area of the center 'plate' is machined to reduce rotational inertia. The assembly holes are machined for special self-locking inserts which strengthen the mechanical connection between the rims and the center, and enable the wheels to be disassembled and reassembled if the wheels should ever need refinishing or repair (screwing bolts directly into the aluminum can cause the tapped aluminum holes to 'strip-out'). Even the valve stem was designed specifically for these wheels!
These are just a few examples... to be honest, a few of the things we have done are proprietary (I have already said too much!)
Gosh, I thought you were going to make this challenging (LOL). The 840R series will easliy accommoate any brake system you can throw at the 350z. You'll get a nice, fat lip front & rear, too. No problem!
FYI, the StopTech guys are a phenomenal group, I recommend their stuff highly!
Jeff: I'm sorry I wasn't around- probably out doing R&D stuff... I can't wait to see your 'Z in person. You know I am an audio buff... I want to see that system! Sorry, I couldn't make the Mossy show- My GS 400 was getting front & rear sway bars installed!
