Those heavy lipstick-esque red lips completely ruin what was originally a beautiful Barracuda wheel. Not a shock, though, the OP is from Jersey, a state not renowned for its taste and restrain.

That is absolutely horrible. Hopefully the pictures aren't doing this justice... b/c I don't know how anyone could like this/defend this look. This doesn't match off the car, and looks even worse on it. I can't believe a single human being with eyes and a brain thinks this matches. No taste buds whatsoever.

It's not my car.
He should of taken pictures of what they previously looked like. If they were to be somewhat fixed and repolished they would of been dull least where the damage was. A smaller red lip would not have covered the damage either which would of sucked as well. We through ideas out of Black, ppw and red. He went with red to match his theme and calipers.
Guy took a chance and that is the outcome. No need to over analyze them. They really don't look bad in person. Had to deminish the Quality of the video as well only due to the HD not able to transfer to photo bucket.
Probably was a crazy thing to do, but hey gotta take a risk now and then and see what happens.
Regardless of the RED RED RED...the outcome of the job being done is amazing! Not one flaw. (except the red) haha!!

Exactly what happened. Somehow the inside was damaged as well and chipped away pretty badly.
He went to some car wash that you the customer drive through which to me is OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Regardless w/e happened he said the owner had removed the guard railing and there was some low jagged curb perhaps Belgium Block style that scrapped the hell out of the complete edge of the lips, and banged up the inner wall as well.

Props to the owner for giving something different a go... as the others have said and IMO the lip is a bit on the thick side but understand why you had to give that a go due to the damage...
Tried to mock this up in photoshop (sorry for the rush job) but as you said about PPW, how about the lip and the "face" of the wheel in PPW and leave the sides of the centres and the bolt holes in gm or flat black?

On days its too cold to wash the car myself, I have been going to this hand wash for quite a long time. It used to be an automated carwash once upon a time, and now they wash the car by hand but they still have the automated rinsing installed there. You have to drive through this to get to the end where they hand dry the car, and there are railings on the sides that are left from the automated set-up. Well, I have driven through there many times no problem. As you drive through there and the water is rinsing your car, you cannot see where you are going briefly (you just need to go through straight). Well, I was too far left and once the wheel touched, it got pulled RIGHT UNDER that railing and really effed up the wheels good. It got wedged under that damn thing and wasn't easy to get off. You could imagine how bad it was, and how many four letter words came out of my mouth after it happened. Nevertheless, it is what it is. We took a chance on something different, and I could care less about all the trash talking on here. I have the ***** to try something like this, and feel it could have looked phenomenal with a darker red and if it were a smaller part of the lip that was painted. The whole lip was done for the fact that it was damaged from getting caught under the railing. There was only one way to see how it was going to look, and that was to just do it and see.
So where do I go from here? Keep it, re-paint it another color, get new wheels...either way, not the end of the world. Thanks to those with honest commentary, and eff the ones who came here talking ish and cracking jokes. Most of those are the sheep that follow whatever everyone else says looks "cool". I never was much of a follower to begin with.
