Stock Rims w/ Snow Tires????
I know it's only May and winter is far far away, but I really need to know this information before I make a purchase.
So the school year is over and I am returning home to Florida on Tuesday. I've been posting all Z related questions on here in attempt to learn as much as I can because I that time has finally come and will be purchasing my car here within the next 1-2 weeks following my arrival in Tampa. The two cars that I've been researching this entire time have been the 350Z (obviously) and the STI. I do go to school in Iowa and during 2nd semester the winter weather can get BAD!!! I will be living about a 5 minute drive from campus and must be able to drive to classes every weekday. This really is the only reason why I am considering the STI. Its AWD can handle winter just fine.
So I know there have been a million threads regarding whether or not you can drive the Z in the snow and what is the best way to do so (Snow tires, low gears, low speed . . . etc). My question isn't about that. What I want to know is plain and simple. Can I run snow tires on the Z's stock OEM rims??? Are there any drawbacks to doing this??? The only reason I ask is I only have 1 year of school left and do not want to purchase a set of rims for snow tires if stock rims will do just fine. Anyway, thanks everyone and let me know any information you know about this.
Thanks

Many winter tyre options for the stock 17s and 18s out there. Visit tirerack.com. You could even mount chains if you want to.
5 minutes to campus? Have you also considered walking?

??????? The Z is my first choice of cars I'm looking at and I'm simply trying to get all the info down before I make my purchase between the STI and the Z here in about 2 weeks. Maybe you should try properly reading and comprehending my original post before you post again. If you don't have anything productive to post then don't bother posting.
