Spork, Re050as are actually wider than most other tires in the same size.. at least the Runflat versions are.

They are also slightly on the heavy side too, but a great performing and looking tire nonetheless.

I had a 275 RE050A PP and they really didn't seem much wider than the stock 265 RE050A. After seeing them mounted on a 10" wheel, I wished I went with 285s.

No hard data, but I do believe the bridgestone RE-11s run rather wide in comparison to the RE050As.

To the original poster, I think this has more to do with the sidewall than anything. Oh a sidewall that is less rounded should be better for performance, assuming the compound is the same.

As you can see the PS2s are much wider.

Wow, that seems like a huge difference.

I was curious so I looked up the section widths.

-Pirelli p-zero 305/30/19 has a section width of 12"
-Michelin PS2 295/30/19 has a section width of 11.9"

But section width of the tire is dependent on the rim in which it is mounted. When you add an extra .5" in rim width that adds roughly .2" in section width to the tire.

Again the p-zero has a section width of 12" when measured on a 11" rim. The 11.5 inch rim should yield a 12.2" section width for the p-zero.

The 295 PS2 has a 11.9" section width when measured on a 10.5" rim. Mounting the PS2 on a 11.5" rim will add .4" of section width to yield 12.3" section width for the PS2.

Kinda random, but whatever....
