Default HELP: Need power tool to remove lugs at the track

Hey:

Can anyone recommend a tool that is cordless or runs off the cigarette lighter, that I can use at the track to quickly remove the lugnuts on my car? It takes me too long to wrench it by hand. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I dont think your gonna find anything with enough amps or torque to remove lugnuts at least one that plugs into a cig lighter. you can use a cordless drill but you would still have to tighten or loosen by hand a full turn before it can actually turn them. Me personally like to feel that there on there tight.

Snap on has a tourqe gun that is cordless. My buddy has one and unless some bolts are stuck it gets everything on and off There are a couple of other cordless tourqe guns but Im not sure of the amount of tourqe they provide nor have I used any of them.

I would still personally do one turn on and one turn off by hand with a tourqe wrench to be sure they are tourqed properly though, especially for track use.

there you go... 650 ft lbs of breakaway tourqe I think that should do the trick. This new model has allot more tourqe then the old model my buddy had.

For a cheap one, Pep Boys use to carry the Goodyear Impact Wrench battery powered one. Many of the autox guys use it and it works good enough to get the wheels off and on.

Bump back from the dead. I found this post while looking for a decent (i.e. well priced) torque wrench for the track. I spend so much time taking wheels on and off, not buying this piece of equipment is just silly.

I see that 24V Goodyear one in a few locations. It claims 200lbft of torque. Although I doubt it will get all the way there, I can only assume that it torques above the 85lbft that I torque the lugs to. Would you guys use this to put ON the lugs as well (then tighten by torque wrench)? I'm concerned about going above the recommended 80-90lbft of torque for lugs, and I don't believe that these particular cordless torque wrenches have any sort of throttle control. Thanks.
