so i finally got rid of those shitty brigestone potenza re040...i bought a new set of hankook ventus s1 evo from tire rack...they cost me 440 for 4 tires with shipping...bought stock tire size 225 45 18 and 245 45 18 rear..these give a much better ride quality alot smoother and the traction feels alot better then the bridgestones...saved me about 800 dollars.....

 

I don't put a whole lot of stock in reviews of brand new tires. Drive them for 6 months then report back.

 

Actually just got the same ones only in 20" variety. So far so good.

I bought the same tires when I saw them at a deal, and so far I like them a lot.

 

yeah TR has them in a lot of sizes and at super low prices compared to the competition...just trying to clear inventory

I have 20x9.5 and 20x11 iForged, offsets somewhere in the low-mid twenties by my rough measurements (iForged offsets apparently top secret), I currently run 245/35/20 and 275/30/30 which is a slight stretch. I wanted to get 30 series all around, but they weren't available with this model so I had to take what I could get. 275/30/20 for the front and 295/25/20 in the rear. Pricing was absolutely ridiculous, 145 each for the front, and brace yourself, 89 each for the rears and just received them yesterday. I LOL when I think about the price.

I'll update in a week or so when I get them mounted with my initial impressions and some pics. The larger contact patch by itself should prove to be the main factor so I will only only be able to contribute so much. I should also be able to give an idea on how wide or narrow these run compared to some of my previous set ups as well as I couldn't find any information on that when searching. At this price I don't expect myself to be disappointed, a similar set up from another brand could have easily cost $1500, I spent $540 shipped so it was an offer I couldn't refuse.

 

I just installed a pair on the front (OEM size) on my G coupe. Will install the rear ones soon, but still have a load of tread on the rears since I had to replace them earlier. Anyway, these tires have great grip, are super quiet and have a softer ride than the original Michelin Pilot. Great price from Tire Rack, so buy them now if you have a hint of needing a set within the next year. They will run out of sizes soon.

 

The only tire that even remotely compares price-wise is the General Exclaim UHP, which was still quite a bit more, and I feel that these will be much better performance wise.

Reviews on TR also sound very promising. And most of those reviews are by people who spent much more on them, more than likely.

The tread pattern looks aggressive and may even help wet weather performance, in spite of how wide they are relative to my current set up (which are unfortunately mismatched between Falken FK452 front's [yuck ], and Toyo [retired] T1S model rear). I'm in AZ so I rarely get a chance to test that, but with "Monsoon" season coming up I'm sure we'll get some rain sooner or later.

I'm thinking about ordering another set of rears because they were so cheap, but don't necessarily want to wait 1.5 or 2 years and end up with bad tires that have cracked or otherwise and are useless before even getting to mount them. I'll get an alignment after getting the new tires installed as well which I'm looking forward to.

 

Well I got a little impatient and went and got the S1 Evo tires installed today.

I thought my fitment choices would be a bit more drastic or close, but really the 275 fronts and 295 rears fit with absolutely no issue, though the front tires are within millimeters to the suspension. The 275's bulge a bit on the 9.5" front's as expected and the 295's are about even on the 11" rears. No rubbing, though my fenders are rolled.

I'm surprised that I could have fit a 305 in back, and probably could have fit a 285 in the front barring the tire hitting the suspension, however I'll probably use that extra clearance to dial back in a tiny amount of camber.

For being 30 and 25 series on somewhat stiff Tein Basic coilovers, it actually rides pretty decent, but I'm sure it will track better once I get it aligned. Now I'm just debating if I want to get camber arms and other misc suspension pieces before or take it to the alignment shop and see what I absolutely need to reach my desired goals. My main concern is getting the toe in spec.

I'll try to post some pictures here today and post it on the fat tires thread and see if I'm approved.
