I think this setup will make me more than happy for general/street use, and if and when I get somewhere with a track, I can just get a set of wheels for a square track setup with stickier tires. I really want moton clubsports, and I think a mild lowering(1" or less) will work well with this whole setup. I can have 2 sets of springs for the motons, one street, one track. Not to mention the requisite quality suspension components for adjusting toe and camber and whatnot. I like the look I have now, but I think some wider tires would perfect it a bit more.
YOu have some good ideas. Your tire idea is perfect actually and will work great for the street or track. The coilover idea, really no need to have 2 sets of springs. Sure i can swap springs semi quick but n there is no need. Right now i'm running 700 pound springs up front and 280 rear (true coilover rear) and my ride is better than most cheap coilovers.

If your car is more of a DD than track toy they normal 10k front an 8k rear setup will be just fine.

Also when you swap spring rates you will need to adjust the preload to keep you height from changing, this will be a PITA.

How close where you to throwing the Ban-hammer down ??

Cool, thanks for the input! Yeah I see your point. I think for now..since this will primarily see street use, I'll go with some reasonable spring rates. Once the car becomes more of a track machine, in other words..once I move..I'll probably get a cheap 4 banger DD and race the Z out a bit. IF I ever get anywhere with a track! I realize the motons are overkill for the street, but this way I'll have em. I really need to just autox more and work on skills, but what can I say, I'm a ***** for the pimp schwag race car parts. I'm already not going to be competetive in the class I'll end up in, so I figure I can just do it for fun and to learn until I get somewhere with a road course, and keep the Z DD for now.

I'll try to end on topic...as far as the tires, I like the sound of 295/35 and 275/35 for now, so I'll settle on that as well, and plan on ordering a whole mess of parts before too long so they're waiting for me when I get home

What kind of DRs would you guys recommend IF you couldnt get the MT ET Streets?
Is there another Drag Radial that has just as good of grip as the MTs? What about mileage? I think ill just stick with my current setup which is 315-30-18 so if you guys think there is a DR that is superior or close to comparison to the Mickey Thompsons let me know

right about 250 per wheel, and they can do it in increments of .5" - 2.5"

Not sure what shocks your running but my guess is not matter the wheel size or offset you won't be able to fit 345mm of tire between your shock and the inside of even a rolled and pulled fender.

what size wheel, camber, offset you running? im trying to fit the fattest tire possible under stock rolled fenders.

I figure this is probably the best place to put my questions, so here it goes.

I have been wanting to run a square setup in this car for a while as well as have a somewhat aggressive offset. I figured 9.5" et15 wheels all around would work with 275/35/18" tires, but I want to get some things straight first:

1) because the rears would only be 9.5" wide, would they be equally as aggressive as a 10.5" @ et 27? I love how 10.5 et15 wheels look, so I might have to go that route or buy a 12mm spacer.

2) would the 275 tire on that offset of wheel rub up front? I fully anticipate having to roll the fenders, and yes I will be lowered on coilovers, but not slammed.

1) The front face of a 9.5 +15 and a 10.5 +27 are in a nearly-identical position.
2) A 275/35/18 front on a 9.5 +15 does not rub for most cars. Some 275s are wider, or taller, and some cars have more camber than others. I have seen that tire as a Toyo R888 rub on a 9.5 +15 RPF1 wheel (front). With some more camber, it did not rub; you are really right at the edge, and it is not a definitive answer given the variables.

I'd Pass on the square unless you're just tracking.

The car demonstrates some very unique behavior that
Isn't fun in a dd or semi dd.

I don't even like it for tracking the car. Thats why i still race square last year but..... 275/35 front and 275/40 rear. Still equal with to get neutral handling , but had the proper stagger in tire height.

While racing, why does the stagger affect handling so much? Could you describe what the difference is? Can't really picture what the sidewall height would effect in terms of well whatever u don't like about it.

Yeah it all depends on the tire too, they can vary a lot from brand to brand. Thanks for the info.

Ok interesting, I will have to research further about why that is. The appeal to me is to reduce understeer for tracking and also have the ability to rotate tires...

I just bought 18x10.5 all around and wanted to run staggered tires but thought it might look funny or not work well. What weird characteristics will the car have? I thought it would just be neutral...

All I could find on here was stuff saying a square setup made VDC perform improperly, but there was no real information I could scrape up.

Another member suggested I repay my question here. Reading through a bunch of pages, it seems this is the right thread!

Here goes:

About to pull the trigger on my race wheels for 2012 and wanted to get one last confirmation that fitment should go smoothly. Looking for the advice of some of the resident race experts here (scotts300!).

The plan was to run a square set-up of Hankook RS3s in 285/18/35 on Enkei RPF1s (18x10.5 +15).

Lowered on Bilstein PSS10s and the rear fenders are already rolled.

I think I already saw this setup on one of the threads in here, but I have read so many posts my head is ready to explode.

Experts: Any last thoughts before I order?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there are a few guys running that exact setup. I'm sure they'll chime in.
