Default Blox lug nuts? yay or nay?

I did a quick search for "blox" and none of the results were of the lug nuts

why is there no info on blox lug nuts? is it because they are very bad quality? Or is it just because of the name blox?

im not looking for anything special, just a good set of lug nuts, that wont break easily etc

here are the lug nuts. forged aluminum they say:

this was just a random example i found on google

also i was considering McGard spline lugs. I believe McGard is the more trusted name here.

any good info/reviews on the blox/mcgard?

I think Blox mostly caters to the Honda crowd.

That said, I dunno what makes one lugnut better than another aside from weight (negligible), looks and security features. I'm sure they will hold your wheels on as good as 99% of the lugnuts out there.

I've got the Ray's Duraluminum extended lugs on my Z & they've been great. I know for a fact that they're good quality & will hold up because so many other people have them. I didn't want to take a chance with the new rims/tires I just purchased to scrimp on the lugs. Luckily I got a good deal from a good friend.

just go with muteki's...well made, inexpensive, range of colors, and all lugs need a lock.

I wouldn't recommend using a lug with aluminum threads on a steel stud unless you don't frequently remove the wheels. The combo of aluminum nut on a steel stud ends up, after repeated on/off sessions, eating the threads on the lug, and thus damaging the stud. After having to replace 5 of my own studs, I went to a lug with steel threads, never had any issue again and I can remove/reinstall as many times as I want without worrying.

So the aluminum (the softer metal) will wear down the steel? The steel lug will need replacing rather than the nut? Crazy, I wonder why that happens.

For the normal person who maybe takes the rims off three times a year there shouldn't be an issue, right?

he had to replace both the studs and the aluminum lugs because both were damaged with constant removing and remounting

but yeah, i believe that taking it off 2-3 times a year wouldnt be a problem with the aluminum lugs

im just going to go with the McGard steel lugs just to avoid any inconveniences

I take my wheels on/off about once a month and sometimes more. I have never stripped an aluminum lug nut. I used one set for over a year at the track before I changed because I wanted another color and sold them. I also use them on the track at Sebring and have never had a problem. Just make sure not to over torque them.

I would buy the BLOX lug nuts. They are all likely made in the same factory and branded per request. I bought a set of cheap $40 per set of 20 aluminum lug nuts to use on the track and they look and feel identical to the Rays I used to use.

The reverse - the steel stud wears at the aluminum thread, and the net result is the threads on the stud can be damaged. Given that replacing studs is about the last thing I want to have to do to my car, as it's time consuming, after having to replace more than 1, I tossed the aluminum lugs in the trash, and now will only use a lug with steel threads. This was several years ago, and I have never had an issue since. Since all aluminum lugs only way a miniscule amount more than steel threaded ones, it's just not worth the potential hassle IMHO
