Question 275s all around,+12 offset, will it work?

I am trying to decide if I should get 255 front and 275 rear or 275 all around, this would be for a DD setup, is 275 up front overkill? Will it affect steering significantly? Reason I am thinking of going with 275s would be to save tread since I would be able to rotate. Any input would be appreciated

Default 275

I have seen a set up of 265 all around on a dd...it did not look bad.
you would also probably see decreased oversteer.

i'm running a 255 in front on a 9.5in wheel +20, and its about as flush as I would like, sometimes it almost looks like its sticking out out a little bit.

I DD w/ 275's all around on 18x10 +22 wheels and the steering is a lot heavier compared to having 225/45/18 front and 245/45/18 rear mounted on the stock wheels. Also, having the same width tires front and rear increases the tendency for the car to oversteer.

It's much easier to break the rear loose than the front now, so be prepared for that especially when it's wet.

You should be able to tune that out with adjustable sway bars.

I run 275/35/18 F and 285/40//18 R as DD, on +22 wheels. +12 would stick way out unless you're slammed with some negative camber...

Do you already have the wheels? If so, that would make the recommendation easier...

In general, unless you do a lot of cornering at illegal speeds on the street, 275s are way overkill. It will and does negatively affect your steering feel/weight, noise, contributes to tramlining and your paying more for that privilege. All to varying degrees depending on tire type and brand of course.

If cost is being taken into consideration, I'd rather see you get a quality set of tires in slightly smaller sizes than monster wide tires with crappy build quality.

275's on a 9.5" +12 will rub, you will need to run at least 2-3 degrees of negative camber.

No.

Yes.

Agreed, although I think he should try the set up first and see how it feels. If he feels like it's too tail happy, in situations he doesn't feel it should be, then yes it should be able to be remedied with adjustable sways.

I'm now running a 275 in the front (295 rear). I LOVE the 275 in the front compared to the "standard" 245 I was running (275 rear). I like the steering to have more weight to it, at least for me it's given more confidence in road holding capabilities as well.

Oh yeah,

I guess I just assumed it would be a 9.5 because you really wouldn't want to run a 275 with anything less than that, but on the other hand it certainly couldn't be any wider than 9.5 at a +12 offset because it wouldn't even be close to fitting.

I do not have the wheels yet since they are backorder, they are 5zigen fno1rc 17x10 +12. Yea I know 17s are FTL, but they actually look descent and I am thinking more about the price for tires. I have 19s now and tires are about 1000 for a good set. For the 17s I was looking into Kuhmo ecsta MX, reading the comments I think I may go with 255 front and 275 rear. I have 245/285 setup now and love the way it handles, the steering is light and predictable.

I hope this guy doesn't mind but he is running the same size wheel with 255/275, I think it looks great.

If you want the 275 front on the fn01rcs, I think you need to get the +25 offset. I run them all around, but with a 3 or 5mm shim spacer in the front. Without the spacer, it is paper thickness close to the upper arm; however, the tires get rubbed ever-so-slightly during high G turns. They are Hoosiers so they're slightly wider than your typical 275, but we also don't know if the tire brand you're looking at runs wide or not as well. Take a look:

I spoke to the owner of SPL parts here in Austin and he swore to me that +12 275 front will be perfect, I just talked to vinniPOOH on here and he had that setup with no issue, fitment is not so much a question anymore, the question is how would it drive with a wide tire upfront.

Ok. It'll track a little bit with the 275 in the front, but I think it's worth it to have rotatability.

I know Kuah, and trust what he says, however, I'll simply reiterate for clarity in case it comes up later: The 275 fronts on my 17x10 +20 (essentially) DO RUB slightly. I strongly believe if the wheels were an additional 8mm out, they would rub quite often. Camber may be the biggest factor here.

If you have the same size all around won't that make the speedo inaccurate? I don't suppose there is a way to recalibrate the speed sensor is there?

I stand by my assessment that it will rub unless you run quite a bit of neg camber, with a 10" it will likely have to be in the 2.8-3 degrees if not more. That set up should handle well though!

No, unless your new tires+wheel diameter is larger/smaller than stock

For a track setup , who really cares.
