Im getting quotes on 19'' volks that are the same wheels for $2.6k SHIPPED without tires. All i know is if the volks are test fitted or even opened the price should automatically go down. All the good deals im seeing are $2k-$2.5k but with worn tires and crazy curb rashes PICKED UP.
you should be able to find someone hard up for cash or just wanting to make space and get a good set of 19's for under 2k. I paid 1700 a few years back for used te-37's with tires at about 10% tread left.

sup man, i remember your wheels i think. Werent they the 19x8.5/9.5 TE37s? If so those go cheaper than the standard 9.5/10.5. Anyway i agree that if you wait youll get a great deal

and one thing i hate about volks is the fact that 90% of their wheels are darker colored. Gunmetal, 5different blacks, bronze, etc. How many light colored Volks did they come out with? Two? lol, i know they have white and that so called silver (mercury silver) which looks almost gunmetal. I wish they had a more oem finish volk

Most used 1s have curb rash and worn tires. You might save $1,000 but they will look worse than cheap rims when they're in that condition.

i don't understand why people are afraid of curbage.. its a relatively cheap fix and if your intentions are to the keep the wheels long term, you can get normally expensive rims for a great deal...

Volk wheel prices have been increasing over the years (material costs, Yen conversion, shipping etc).. so the used prices are also increasing as well.

if dont want to spend the money on used, then don't cuz someone else will.. time = money..

normally, the hard to get wheel sizes and colors are special ordered and take anywhere from 60 to 90+ days.. if you can wait, and want to spend the bigger bucks to get what you want, then new is definitely the way to go.. but if u can find the size you want , the color you can live with, and you can get it say, within a week, why not help another forum member out and pick up the used set? (granted the seller has good iTrader ratings)

You cannot restore curbed volks back to their original finish. To fix the rash, you have to strip the anodizing which cannot be refinished. You are then left with a bare wheel lip, and sometimes a noticeable line where the shop strips the anodizing to. Its not as simple as you make it seem

So are you saying anodized lips cannot be "re-annodized" ?

Wanna bet? I curbed one of my LE37T's and had it repaired earlier this year. I can't tell where the repair was done - that's how flawless it is.

By any wheel shop for less than the price of a new wheel? Nope.

LE's are a special case because they don't have a true polished lip, its machined and powdercoated, not anodized, so they are slightly easier to repair. I should have made my statement more specific to multipiece volks with annodized lips. Those can't be repaired to their original finish

People can ask any price for any used (or new for that matter) product they are selling. Either make an honest offer or quit wasting the seller's time.

I've sold two used sets of Volks, quite quickly, for ~$2500 (18x9, 18x10 SF Challenges with decent tires, 19x8.5, 19x9.5 TE37s with good tires).

And it's tire TREAD, not THREAD. Dang!

Used is more expensive because they have been drift tested.

okay so you sold your 18'' volks for around $2.5k picked up im guessing? With so called DECENT tires? That is 9''/10'' wide? And you think thats a fair deal? If u say so man, your obviously on the other side looking in. Dont get mad just cuz other people think these prices are ridiculous. All i know is ive been getting quotes for SF winnings/challenge, TE37 etc. for $2.6k-$2.8k shipped with all the hardware included. Then i can buy used tires for around $400 shipped. Thats 19x9.5/10.5 brand new volks with used tires for around $3k SHIPPED.

And i apologize for the spelling error

Where are you getting this information? As far as I know and my experience with detailing, the LE lips are a clearcoat finish, as they are not damaged by wheel cleaners like normal anodized GT/SF wheel finishes are. This would indicate that they are not anodized since the acidic nature of wheel cleaners destroys the anodizing

$400 shipped for 4 tires? LOL, I love these people that get 2.5-4k Volks and are going to get some Ching Lee's or some crap I've never heard of.

FYI - tires are the only thing connecting you to the road.

I never said new tires, i said used. And u can get 4 brand new Nexen tires for a little over $400. Not great tires but not crap either. Ill rather have used tires with warranty from ebay than used tires that came with the used curbed rims.

The 18s were picked up, yes. They had a quality tire, the Falken Azenis RT615 on them. They had about 6k miles on them. The rears were about ready to be replaced, the fronts were good. They sold in 3 days for my asking price, so I think they were priced quite fairly.

Agreed. I sell quality used tires, and they sell like hotcakes for $350-400 per pair.

Ebay warranty? Don't make me fall over from laughing. Which Nexen's are you looking at? They don't offer many sizes from what I've seen. I see them for about $175/tire in the 275/30/19 (I'd prefer 35 series, but they don't make one), but I don't know what you'd put on the front. Don't forget about 100 bucks to mount/balance them. I'd rather a set of Michelin PS2 tires - already mounted and balanced - with 10k miles on them than any Nexen, Conti Sport Contact, or other budgetier tire brand.

Look at my Volks, riding on Chinhowwang budget tires.

I just sold a set of used gunmetal Volk GT7's with lugs, center caps, and good tires for $1650. You should be watching the marketplace section for stuff like this.

I've always tried to be fair with my pricing and generally ask for about 50% of the new cost. I've always sold my stuff fairly quickly by doing this. I have noticed, however, some people ask way too much for their used stuff.

Quick Reply: Used Volks overpriced???
