Default 225/45 and 245/45 Are they to small ???

Im picking up a set of TSW snettertons at town fair tire this week. I have to go back tomorow to put my deposit because they are a specail order. I got home from there and im oging over my recipt and the tire sizes seem to small. They guy I talked to had a g35 slammed on axis wheels and i just thought he knew what he was doing and didnt really think id have to recheck what he suggested. My car is lowered on eibach sportline springs(1.2 inch before setled) and my fenders arent rolled and i dont want to roll them. IM not looking for a hella flush setup but I dont want a crazy wheel gap either. ANyone have a ny suggestions on what these size tires will do to my car??

FRONT- 225/45/r18
BACK- 245/45/r18
OFFSET- 20
FRONT LIP- 2.5 inches
BACK LIP- 4 inches
8.5 up fornt
9.5 in the back

Honestly I would get some wider wheels. A 18x9.5 in the rear would look a bit silly.

I have konig time attacks that are 9.5 and they look good. IM just worried that the tires are not the right size and are gonna make a wheel gap problem

I've seen people on here put 275/40's on their stock 18" rear wheels which are only 8.5" wide, so you could go a lot wider in the rear.

is the secound number (45) the height of the tire?? If so what recommended on a lowered z to give it a nice look while not leaving a massive wheel gap or having to roll fenders??

Yes, the 2nd number would be the height of the tire. 45 series tires I think are the most common on 18" wheels. You could also go 35 or 40 if you want something more low profile. A 35 might not be a very comfortable ride though. I had a 45 series tire on my stock wheels and I think it looked good.

So with that size tire and my springs that are going in am i gonna lose alot of wheel gap?? I saw a lowered z that had 18 with low pro tires and it looked stupid cuz even with the drop it still had massive wheel gap. Im just worried that its gonna look stupid. I got a good deal on wheels and town fair is buying my wheels off of me to drop the price even lower. They upgraded the tires form the cheapos that they give to the next step up

In this picture I had 225/45/18's up front and 245/45/18's in the rear. I could have gone wider though.

Thanks. I'm on Eibach Sportline springs with stock shocks. I'll try to find a picture of the rear wheel right now and post it. I had about a 1/4" gap between the tire and fender if you look at the wheel straight on. The biggest gap though was from the tire to the fender horizontally since I needed spacers. I'll try to find a pic of the back wheel right now

Nope, didn't cut the rear sprint mount. I got the SPC rear camber kit and toe bolts in the rear and that brought it pretty close to stock spec. In the front I only have a little bit of cmaber, so I didn't bother getting a camber kit for the front also.

How 'bout 245/40/18 and 275/40/18? Almost identical overall height to the tire sizes you've asked about.

The rears have somewhat uneven wear, but the fronts are almost perfect. VERY slight camber wear in the front

The tires you ordered will be slightly stretched on your wheels (8.5” F and 9.5” rear) Your wheels will handle a wider tire. I would go with at least this:

245/40-18” front
275/40-18” rear

No.

The aspect ratio (the second number) is not a measurement. The aspect ratio represents the tire's sidewall height as a percentage of the tires width (section height divided by section width). A tire measuring 225/45-18” has a sidewall height of 101mm (101/225=45).

The aspect ratio is important since that (along with the wheel size) determines the overall diameter of the tire allowing you to match your stock overall tire height (diameter). For example, a 225/45-18 tire's sidewall height is 101mm, and a 245/40-18 tire's sidewall height is 98mm.

So, both tires have nearly the same overall diameter.
