Does anyone know if a 2003 350z Track model with stock 18" wheels can be refitted with 17" wheels from another 350z, given that the Brembo calipers and discs are so large? Or do you need to stay with 18" wheels?

I have looked at the 350/370z wiki and used some tire sizing tools, but no answer yet.

The size of rim doesnt matter the spokes just have to clear te brakes thats all

 

17" OEM wheels clear the brembos. Aftermarket wheels would depend on the offset and spoke arrangement.

 

Most 17s will fit. The high offset Enkei RPF1s, for example, do not (17x9.5 +38).

 

For most 17s, this is true, however, most 16" wheels do not fit over Brembos, so it's not just the spoke design.

 

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

 

Offset calculators are virtually useless in determining fitment of this sort. All they tell you is that the wheels are x" closer on the inside and stick out y" farther on the outside. None of them tell you the first thing about brake clearance.

 

An appropriate template such as the one above is also helpful.
