I have an 08 Nismo with the stock RE050A tires on the stock Nismo wheels (stock sizes 245F/265R on 18x9 et30F and 19x10 et30R) and I'm going to go with Hankook V12 Evo for my next tires (265F/295R). Here are the stats according the Bridgestone and Hankook sites:

Bridgestone RE050A (stock size rear is about 2.7% taller than the front)-

245.40.18F = 9.9" wide and 25.7" tall
265.35.19R = 11.3" wide and 26.3" tall

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo (these sizes will make the rears about 1.9% taller than the fronts)-

265.35.18F = 10.7" wide and 25.3" tall
295.30.19R = 11.9" wide and 26" tall

My question is that with my stock suspension (I believe the Nismo is a tad lower than the regular 350, maybe 0.1-0.2"), even though the Hankooks are shorter than stock, will the fact that they are wider introduce any fender/quarter panel rubbage? Also, because they are slightly shorter, will the Hankooks correspondingly introduce a slight lowering effect to my car even with stock suspension? Thank you.

 

no wont rub but you might want to get you rear fenders rolled

 

Here is an important number that members often overlook. You have reduced rear axle ground clearance by 4.25mm. In your situation this number is insignificant: both functionally and visually.

You are going from a 265 to 295mm tire. So you need an additional 15mm on each side of the tire. Go outside a check the clearance between the tire and suspension, and tire and fender.

 

he is running a 10 inch rim in the rear with a 30 offset, he wont rub at all with a 295. and if he does it will only be from the fenders not rolled and that can easily be done to prevent it from rubbing.

 

Thanks for the replies. If there's any possibility that I would need to roll the fenders/quarter panels, I'd rather go more conservative with 285s and not have to roll. If I had a regular Z, it would be fine but since the Nismo is limited edition, I'd rather not make any body mods.

 

you will not need to worry about the front but I would roll the rears, ALSO the thoughts about the car feeling lower, don't worry at all about that, even Jesus wouldn't see / feel a difference there.

Another thing to note, is that the part of the tire you need to worry about with regards to rubbing is the outside of the tire, basically the sidewall or the crown of the tire where the sidewall meets the tread. In most cases, the dimensions you saw are from bead to bead, which does not do anything for you when concerning rubbing, as every tire is overall constructed differently.

from experience, i personally think you'll have at the least, slight issues on the rear under hard compression of the suspension

Haven't done it yet since the stock Potenzas aren't worn out yet. But I've done the research and 265/295 will work fine with the Nismo wheels as long as you are on stock suspension. If you are lowered, you would probably have to go for a more conservative 255/275 or 285 setup.
