Unusual new pad wear?
I just put new Stoptech lines and Satisfied ceramic pads on the Z. After driving for a while I see a dark smear where the pads contact the rotor but there is a shiny ring about 1/4 inch on the outside edge. Is this normal?
It looks like the pads are too small for the surface area of the rotor. Or, the rotor was worn deep there and the pad hasn't conformed to the rotor yet.
Anybody else have this issue?

Stock size pads on stock 11.7" rotors leave a 1/8" lip on the outside edge of the rotors. This is normal. It looks kind of like the lip on an old vinyl LP, right? When the lip gets thicker then 1 MM, it's time to have the rotors turned.
Only the Brembos and other big brake kits have pads that make contact with the entire surface of the rotor.
