sup guys, im about to disassemble my sf challenges to get em powdercoated. I talked to the guy that owns the shop and he said he can get them powdercoated mercury silver (which is the color i want) no problem. He also said something about a special process of powdercoating where its not too hot to weaken the wheels or whatever.
Anyway just wondering, how close will the powdercoated mercury silver be to the factory mercury silver? Anyone know how tight i should tighten them up afterwards? Im not gonna trade these for a factory mercury silver because i am happy with the +23 offset for the front vs the +28 everyone seems to have and its cheaper doing it this way. Plus the shop has a great reputation.
Yes i searched but all i see are the same ''Rays do not give out torque specs''. Any suggestions is welcome.

i mean i got them at a great price so i bought em. Id keep the color if they looked good for my brickyard. I posted a ft thread and apparently no one wants them so im gonna go ahead and do what i think looks good for my car. Trust me, it hurts doing this to a perfect condition rmc but if they were so great they woulda been traded already. Im just looking to see if anyone has powdercoated their volks and how its holding up.
Volks forged wheels supposedly should never been PC'd because of their proprietary tempering process. You will certainly lose any warranty by doing this. You can read more about the debacle here: https://my350z.com/forum/6962072-post9.html

I also have SF challenges in RMC i was thinking of powder coating. It's like everyone loves the finish-- but try looking at it everyday, it gets old. an expensive wheel that looks like every other chrome wheel out there.
I say go for it dude, let us know how it goes.

haha i see u know where im coming from. I too thought they were hot wheels, i was saving up for a set of RMC TE37 at one point. But as you look at em ON THE CAR, they really arent that great. They look straight up chrome. There those type of wheels that look better in pictures than in person.
If someone wanted to trade me id do it, but ive been waiting for over a week and nothing. So tomorrow ima try and drop these wheels off at a legit pc place. Only concern i have is the finish and durability. HOw does a well executed powdercoated wheel hold up compared to factory paint?
Ask said shop what temp they will treat the coating. Read my link as to why.

appreciate it man, your wheels look great on your car. But the color wheels im going for is silver. I had a lot of offers (black volks) but no silver volks
Im going to check this place out that paints wheels, comes with a 5yr warranty and does great work. This should take out the "hurting the structural integrity" of the wheels out. Plus 5yr warranty. Ill keep you guys posted.

Don't paint them. I don't care what the painter says, it will look like crap after a decent amount of highway mileage.
Trade ICE and powder coat those. You'll make me a happy man. I know that means a lot to you, so you think about that this weekend.
