RE050s is what came on the later model Z's and is what I was talking about. A much better tire over the RE040. I have KDW2s currently and they have around 14k of miles. Not happy and will not purchase these again. And sorry, but these are scary in the rain.

That's the rumor. Just to add my experience with the tires, I had them on my Z for almost 30k miles and they didn't really get too noisy - even after 20k miles. But they stuck to the ground even in heavy rain.

First, did you meant to put 245/40 or was that supposed to be 245/45?

Second, So you are saying I would be better off if I put 245/45-18 on all four wheels and forget about the 225's on the front tires?

What do you guys think of Michelin Primacy MXV4? Considering I won't be racing my car or anything else too intense in the near future I think these tires may work. Reviews say they are quite, comfortable, and have an exceptional tread life. All of which I am looking for in a tire.

Will these be ok for a 350z?

And again, are these my ideal tire sizes for stock rims:
F: 245/40r18
R: 245/45r18

Thanks.

I am supposed to get is a 245/45r18 but the only tire available for the brand I want is a 245/45r18 XL. When I go to check out, the site tells me that a XL tire can add harshness to the ride when driving my car because it exceeds my cars stock loadability.

I know XL technically means extra load but what is this actually telling me? (The symbols and the site warning)

I agree 100% with this comment. I had no issues with my KDW's when I had them.

Another tire worthy of consideration would be the Bridgestone RE760 Sport. It has positive reviews for being quiet and smooth, yet still has good performance. It has a treadwear rating of 340 and is available in the sizes you are looking for. Not very expensive either.

Although I'd still recommend the Nitto Invo as my first choice.

Don't worry about it , you are driving a sports car. You will hardly be able to tell , if you actually could.

Thanks for everyone's help. I have narrowed my choices down to a few different brands but I would like your help to decide which one would best suits my situation.

I would like a good mix of mileage and performance from the tire; however, if I had to choose one over the other, it's mileage (I know no UHP tire can give me as long of tread life as I want). I'm an average driver and I don't race or anything but I do want a relatively smooth and quiet (quieter at least) ride.

Goodyear Eagle GT

General Exclaim UHP

Kumho Ecsta SPT

Kumho Ecsta ASX

Yokohama S.drive

Dunlop Direzza DZ101

I would add the hankook ventus v12k to that list. Reviews have been very good and the price point is hard to beat.

I ultimately didn't add them to the list because I can't find enough reviews and information on them to feel comfortable buying them. Also, I have read that they are noisy tires.

Understandable. I assume you did find the Car and Driver July 2009 article? It does a very good job of testing the tires. Here is a quote from that article

With above-average wet and dry performances, and tying for quietest on the street loop, the V12 Evo is an impressive and well-rounded summer tire. And, at $106, it’s a bargain, too.

Yes, I did read it actually. However, I was referencing personal reviews of the tire rather than a test done by a site or company. I agree, the stats of the tire do look good. Do you know how many miles people are getting out of them?
