Default Need New Tires!

I have a 2006 Nissan 350Z with stock tires (Bridgestone Potenza). I have under 17,000 miles on my car/tires. The outsides/centers of my front tire treads are in pretty good shape, but the insides of both my front tires are worn down to the wire! The rear tire treads have normal wear but will also need to be replaced. I have read about a lot of problems with alignments, etc. with 350z's but I didn't know what exactly could be causing this. Is anyone familiar with this? Is there anything specific I need to tell my service station to look for?

On another note, I need to get new tires and I definitely don't want a new set of Potenza's. I have tried to research which tires would be the best but lots of reviews are out-dated or are for people who race their 350z. What is a quality tire for my Z that I can get some good mileage with? I live in MS so I don't have to deal with snow but we do get a lot of rain. Should I stick with summer tires or all weather tires? I drive a good mix of city and highway. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Look into BFG KDW2s for your next set of tires.

Also, there are lots of up to date reviews on Tirerack.com

BFG KDW2's have a reputation for good traction, but they also have a reputation for being a very noisy tire after a few miles.

For a daily driven street car, the Nitto Invo has received many positive reviews. It is an ultra performance summer tire that is very quiet, yet has very good dry and wet handling performance. I was considering these as my next set of tires for my S14 before it got wrecked.

IMO, the Nitto Invo would be a nice upgrade from the OEM Bridgestone RE040 that came on the Z.

Did you swap the front tires at, say, 10,000 miles? That would be a good idea.

The Car & Driver Tire Test: Nine Affordable Summer Tires Take On the Michelin PS2 - Comparison Tests is published July 2009. How is this outdated?

I guess you mean swap the front tires from left to right since the tires in the front and rear are different sizes... No, I never did that. I was going to get them rotated soon but I had no idea the tires wore out so fast. Im not an aggressive driver and I take extremely good care of my car, but not good enough care of the tires I guess. I will be sure to do that on the next set. Thanks.

I tried searching for reviews like this but I couldn't find any. I guess I was searching in the wrong area. I will look for this particular tire test information, thanks a lot.

I saw a good write up on the home page of my350z about general exclaim UHP. I looked it up and I can get the tires for $134..sounds a little cheap. Are these tires any good or is my350z just talking them up for publicity? Anybody have experience with these?

I replaced mine with the Falken 452's. I have no complaints about them thus far and have driven a few thousand miles.

Negative camber will wear tires unevenly. Its just the way it is. And the miles do sneak up on you. Suggestion for new tires: Estimate tread life. Swap and half that.

KDW2s aren't that great. I personally own them now, and hate them vs my stock tires.

VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA best tire for the money. Search about them on this site.

I actually was looking into getting goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3 tires but I can't find any places online that carry 225/45r18. Is there a site that has them that Im not looking at?

Would the all seasons be my next best choice? I read they start to get pretty noisy once the new wears off a little. What's your opinion?

Oh and does it matter if I get a 225/45ZR18 tire instead of the 225/45R18?

The GSD3 tires are good tires, a bit overly expensive though when the Vred's perform better in tests. They won't last that long either.

I don't believe that the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is available in a 225/45-18". Your closest size for the front with this tire is 245/40-18".

If you have the stock rear tire size (245/45-18"), you will have less understeer with 245's in the front. You need to be a little more cautious with this type of setup since it could easily go to oversteer if you have worn rears or rears that don't grip as well as the fronts.

Ganna make it easier for you, your front tire size is 225/45-18 just forget about the letter. Their really not that important to most on here. Then like spike said , bump up to the 245/40 front tire, your tire selection will be a lot better and your car will handle better.

I have those on 17 inch wheels for autocross. Dry and wet performance is excellent.

Everyone has different opinions, I guess. I despised the OE Bridgestone Potenza RE040s.

That's the rumor. Just to add my experience with the tires, I had them on my Z for almost 30k miles and they didn't really get too noisy - even after 20k miles. But they stuck to the ground even in heavy rain.
