So i have almost 9 thousand miles on my 08 Nismo Z, and the rears are SHOT. On top of all things, the Nismos apparently came out of alignment from the factory, and a friend of mine told me to take it to the dealership to check it. Lo and behold, the camber and toe were off in the rear, and the service advisor told me that several thousand miles of usable tire life were taken away in the one year I have had my car. Oh well. But heres what I did: I went onto tirerack.com and did some research. Just a heads up, i have a FULL STOCK 2008 350z Nismo, and I ordered wider tires (265/40/18 Front, and 285/35/19 rears), up from 245/40/18, and 265/35/19, respectively. The tirerack experts informed me that on a 9 inch front rim and 10 inch rear rim, these tire sizes will be sufficient. I wanted to make sure it was a good choice. I dont track the car that often, but i dont drive like my 80 year old grandmother either. I was aiming for a little more steering effort, and a little more grip in the rear end doesn't hurt either. I was just wondering, did I make a good choice. Tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE-11, coming from stock RE050A, which IMO were sort of crap. Again, car is completely stock! Thanks!

FWIW, I have a set of the same size rims. In looking for replacement tires the sizes that I finally decided would be best (haven't ordered them yet as I just got a set of Track v.1 wheels) is 255/40, 275/35.
My reasoning was to increase the amount of rubber on the road front and rear, but add relatively more to the front to help control understeer.
Let us know when you get them how you like them.

Sam!!! How's it going man! When did you join the forum? Good to hear from you again. Hope your cars doing well. I'd take your car to the dealer because the chances of your car being out of alignment are pretty good, just a heads up. We should meet up sometime wen I am home nd stuff.

Hey all, This is an update. My tires had to be special ordered from the Firestone autostore, and it took a week to come in. I am in college so I was not able to bring the car in today, so my father did. I upgraded the tire sizes from 245/40/18 and 265/35/19 up to 265/40/18 and 285/35/19. Attached are pics that my buddy took while he was up by where the tires were put on. Needless to say, they look amazing, and I cant wait to get home this weekend and try them out! My dad says driving home he noticed the steering had a more solid, linear feel to it, and required some more effort, but thats what I was aiming for. The tires are Bridgestone Potenzas RE-11, and they look very aggressive. I am going to get an alignment done when I am home to make sure everything is where it should be. Heres some pics, and I will post many more good ones shortly!

Looks good

Imo You might get the "More effort" simply by the fact that this tire has more grip (both from upgrade + being new), but supposedly a more square setup has better feel....

I've been looking to get these same tires possibly...the RE-11's. But I have also considered going back to 19s...maybe. I'm very curious how these tires last for you since the treadwear rating is low. I'm starting to think regardless of what treadwear summer tires come with.....about a year's worth of driving is about what I'll get either way. So I think I'm caring less & less about treadwear rating.
They make these tires in a 305/30R19 as well :-) but they are suggested for a minimum of a 10.5" wide rim.
The one downside of these tires I noticed over the Falken FK-452's (they get the job done for daily driving) that I currently have is that the Bridgestone RE-11's weigh A LOT more. I think the fronts are like 3 lbs more and the rear tires 2 lbs more compared to my Falkens. It kind of defeats the purpose of having light wheels, if I'm going to put heavy tires on them....lol. Buuuuuuut, I like the fact that the RE-11's have about a 0.2" wider footprint :-)

I have nismo 0191...
anyways 8k is all you got out of your tires...might wanna go get your nismo aligned. I had my rears replaced due to a nail at around 9k....since then almost going on 20k and they look fine...might wanna relax on enjoying the car...

Re-opening an old thread but my Nismos tires are pretty much DONE. I have the OEM size/tires on it right now 245 40 18 front 265 35 19 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, which I do agree with nismomike that overall they kind of suck. I know the tire size I want which is 255 40 18 front and 285 35 19 rear, but to all you Nismo owners which tire brand & model tires have offered you great grip and don't weigh so much. I actually ran that tire size in my old 2003 350Z (I forgot which brand I went with) but I remember my Z feeling considerably heavier with that size. I take my Z to the track once in a while and I also take it to the dragsrtip frequently since there's one right down the street from my house. So that's why I want grip while still being lightweight.

I would tell you to head to tirerack to compare weights...but lately I've been questioning their weights for certain tire sizes...
Seems all 285/35 19 are 31lbs which I'm not too sure is correct..
Hopefully more chime in ....I don't drive enough to notice anything

Yeah I'm not too sure if their tire weights are correct either. Maybe someone out there can chime in that switched to the exact size I want to switch to from the stock size and could tell me if they felt only little or if any difference in weight. I would like to know what tire you used.
