Default SKIDPAD tests and tires

Now sure were this belongs but...

Ok heres my question.

Most reviewers say the G35Coupe does the SKIDPAD at .91g and the 350Z does it at around .89g or so...

Now i dont know what SKIDPAD test really is but im guessing it has something to do with how well the car sticks to the road? Higher number is better.

Well.. it seems the G35Coupe *sticks* to the road better than the 350Z.

But would what kind of tires u have make a difference on this test?

If so doesnt the G35Coupe come with Michelin Pilot Sport and the 350Z comes with Bridgestone RE040?

We all know the Michelins are way better... Would this increase the 350Zs SKIDPAD results?

Its sortof weird how the 350Z doesnt have as good handeling as the G35Coupe. (according to most if not all reviews ive read)...

Slap on some wider tires on larger rims, and even lower it a bit, and there is no doubt in my mind the Z will be close too if not pull something higher than 0.95g's on the skid pad.

ya but do u think if the testers used the same tires on Both the 350Z and the G35Coupe the SKIDPAD results would be the same?

im trying to find out if the reasoning for the G35Coupe handeling better than the 350Z is the tires or as ive heard the longer wheel base...

I think it is the tires, our wheelbase is PLENTY long, look at a 911s compared to the Z.

SCC tested a Z a while back, did a ghetto suspension, and rims and tires. they got it over a 1G.

and the skidpad is basicly a large circle, and you just go around in a circle as fast as you can and measure the G forces in the car. it is a DIRECT measure of traction, as it does not test the suspension very much since the car never has to shift its weight.

The thing that the skidpad misses is transition and weight transfer, this is where the slalom comes into play

so its the wheels and tires..

So technically if the reviewers did the skidpad test with the Michelin Pilot Sport tires and using stock rims we would have same results on the skidpad as the G35Coupe if not better.

yes, it is 99% tire/rim combo and car weight.

weight distrobution, and suspension setup(camber) also play into it.
