look at the pic below. the nut is dented in.

Axle Pops or Creaks:
'00–02 S2000
On '00–02 S2000s, if your customer complains of hearing a single pop or creak from the rear of the vehicle when changing direction from forward to backward and vice versa, the problem may be axle (driveshaft) movement in the rear hub. To eliminate the noise, replace the spindle nut on the affected axle. Apply grease to the surface of the new spindle nut where it contacts the hub. Torque the new nut to 298 N·m (220 lb-ft), and stake the nut.

so with our crappy nissans, it's going to happen every 20k miles. go nissan..
I have seen the center nut pinched, but not sure how it is done? Smack with a cold chisel?

Im having this problem however I'm unable to get the axle nut free. Mechanic tried with impact gun, heat and again with impact gun.

He didnt want to snap the axle, so now its back in my drive way sitting until I can find a fix.

What to do?

need a bigger impact or more air pressure. it will come off.

but unless you are replacing your wheel bearings, loose axle nut is obviously not the problem

^ Wheel bearing.. impact gun was apparently rated at 600ft lbs and that couldnt cut it.

Just replaced all of mine. Snap on ct6850 took all the bolts off without a issue.
