My factory potenza's were worn out pretty bad had about 1/16 inch of tread left (thats what the inspector said). I put 32k miles on those tires, they were great tires, never got loud, but they started loosing grip on wet roads. The last couple of months they were scary to drive in the rain..

So i decided to put on the re-01r's i had bought back in february. I bought them for $499 shipped, they were on closeout. After i put them on i immediately noticed a smoother ride. I have since put about 300 miles on them and they drive great! Now, at wot, i hear a screech shifting into second. I haven't heard that in a long time! And on wet roads they don't slip and hydroplane like my old potenza's..

I give these tires two thumbs up.

Congratulations on getting a good sticky set of tires. We got a set for the Scion when they went on clearance and my wife burned them up at the track. (6-8 events, a lot of runs, and DD duty.)

Just one thing; They won't stick like 225's and 245's untill you get the tire-gel off the tread.

…Except that you have tires you like, and they are brand new. I think it’s unlikely you will be replacing your wheels and tires for wider models (at least not for about 25K+ miles at this point).

^^ Neal, What's you opinion on the noise level of this tire? Is it more quiet than the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3?

Very tolerable for every day use. I would say a quieter option compared to the GS.

^^ Neal, …Thanks for the reply. Your participation here is greatly appreciated.

I do like my Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3’s; but as is true for the majority of summer performance tires, they are noisy. What I don’t like about the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires is that they become noisier as they wear. I’m down to > 50% wear on these tires, and they are now almost “roaring.”

my cousin has those goodyear tires on his '04 g35 coupe.. And yes compared to my tires they are noticeably nosier. I always notice a humming sound when i'm riding in his car on the freeway..
