Default What impact socket will not scrape stock wheels

I just got an impact wrench for tire removal, which is fantastic by the way. The craftsman 21mm impact socket I purchased looks thin walled enough but it is very tight in the stock 2006 wheels. I put blue painters tape around it and that was too much extra width for it to work.

What impact sockets are thin enough to fit the stock 2006 wheels without scratching them up?

On a side note, my set of G35 coupe 7 spoke wheels that are my AutoX/Time trial set now do not have the same issue as they allow more room where the lugs go.

I just wrap eletrical tape around any socket that may cause damage. No scrapes.

using stock lugs:

I just used non impact grade, and when i cracked them i trashed them. I wrapped them in tape, but it didnt matter as they were skinny enough regardless....

you dont use an impact nor impact sockets to reinstall you tighten by hand and then use a torque wrench with a typical socket as well, so that doesn't matter.

After market lugs:
I recommend the Discount tire lug nuts. they sell open ended and capped splined gorilla lugs they call them for 1.25 each. those with the key they sell are perfection and reasonably priced IMO.

They look identical to these:

well the closed end ones at least, the open ended ones they sell look the same just open ended....

Thanks,
I picked up a set at Harbor Freight today. After my Sunday AutoX I will try them out when I put my stock wheels back on.
