That doesn't seem to add up if you've only got 200 miles on them.
I have a few very small chips, but I had my wheels painted over a year ago and 15K miles ago. I agree that their prep process/paint process seems to be the culprit.
Thanks for the input from all of you, this is very interesting to know and very helpful. Hopefully I can prove to Rays that something is actually wrong here. Keep em comin'!

Ive had mine for a year now, and the paint is still new.
Other owners don't have that issue so maybe you have an angry ex-GF or something? Plus you said that you work as a painter so I'm sure you work with paint thinners and other chemicals that might have gotten on your car/wheels
Haha, I hope your joking. No angry GF could replicate this problem. This car or wheels have not been harmed by chemicals because its in storage. Also, if a thinner or chemical were to get on paint, it would either wash the paint off entirely or cloud it up...not cause small areas to flake off.

I think the biggest thing I have against volks is their paint isn't up to par with what they charge.. Especially the diamond Cut lips.. other finishes are decent.
Unfortunatley mine is not even proving to be decent.

the quality of the finish on mine seemed cheap aswell. 19" RE30 in matte "titanium gunmetal" beautiful color but so sensative i would wait and go out of my way to only one guy i trusted to mount tires on them. finally getting them refinished, thought powder coating might be stronger and longer lasting. sad i have to spend $110/wheel for a better finish on something that retails for about $900/each, but i still love em
I feel you pain man, I am sad to see another person with my problem. How long did you run your wheels before the paint started chipping?
