Default 245 or 255/40/18 for lowered nismo....need some input

i am about to pull the trigger on getting some new tires. i am kinda pissed that the re050a only lasted 15k miles. i am going with the hankook ventus v12 evo k110.

i am lowered on stance gr+ about 1.25" basically no wheel gap. i am going with 275/35/19 in the rear and i will address the fender rolling if needed and adjust ride height as necessary, so i am not too concerned about that.

my concern is the fronts. i am looking at 245 or 255/40/18.

-should i stick with the 245 up front or should i increase the fronts because i increased the rear tire size?

-if i did 245/275, would 30mm difference in front and rear cause any issues?

i have read a lot of threads about this on stock height, but i would like some input from anybody that has run these sizes on lowered Zs.

thanks

Thumbs up

Difference in overall tire height is 13.9 mm. This is good.

thanks, I looked at that calculator too. I figure either size would be fine as far as tcs. my main issue was handleing and rubbing. anybody with personal experience?

The tire size you are considering for the rear (275/35-18) has an overall diameter (height) of 25.57”.

If you go with a 35 profile on the 275 rears, you must not mount a 40 profile (245/40-18 or 255/40-18) on the fronts. (You said: “my concern is the fronts. i am looking at 245 or 255/40/18.”)

A 40 profile with a 245 or 255 wide tire has a greater overall diameter than the 275/35-18’s you are considering. A taller tire in front messes up the electronic functions (ABS, and VDC/TCS if your car has this).

If you go with 275/35-18” rears, you should go with a 35 profile on the front. Either 245 or 255 widths will work fine. If you prefer reduced under-steer and don’t mind heavier steering, go with 255/35-18”. Otherwise, go with 245/35-18” for your setup.

Since your car is dropped, a 35 profile should look OK.

the rears are 19" not 18". 275/35/19 would actually be slightly taller than the 265/35/19 that are stock.

that is why I am wondering if I need to go with the 255 up front so that the overall height difference would stay the same as stock but front and back tires would be wider.

I know this setup will work fine on stock height, but just wondering about front clearence with the 255/40/18 when lowered.
