Question Buying tires on Ebay?

I'm looking for Eagle F1 GS-D3 in 245/35/19 and 275/35/19.

I was browsing Ebay and found the prices on (2) 245/35/19 for $350? Why is it cheaper comparing to other online stores such as tirerack.com? Is it safe to buy tires from Ebay? What's your opinions?

Any clue why Tirerack.com doesn't carry 275/35/19 Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires? I will call them tomorrow to find out.

I've found tires on Tirerack and DiscountTireDirect for comparable prices and they usually include shipping, something all eBay sellers don't offer. eBay tires may be seconds/blems too.

I’m not certain about this, but I suspect Goodyear is winding down the Eagle F1 GS-D3. Many tire dealers no longer have all the sizes, so that tells you something. It’s an excellent tire, but its soft sidewall and relatively noisy run-characteristic makes it less desirable than the new offerings. This tire has been around for awhile.

I purchase items on eBay, but I’m careful about what I buy and always evaluate the deal and the seller. When the price sounds too good, it may well be something you don’t want to buy. Sometimes the item is sold by an unauthorized seller, is a “second,” returned item, or even an item with a defect. You need to be careful.

Something else you need to check when buying a product on eBay is the shipping charge which can make the “deal” no bargain at all.

TireRack.com is a great seller and you do not need to worry about any product you buy here. And, any of the vendors on my350z.com are good sources for your tire needs.

I usually buy tires from a local source. That way it is easy to resolve any problems with the purchase. I pay more, but value the service.

Not certain about pricing but had Eagle F1 GS-D3 on 350Z. Most impressive tire I have had to date.

No argument here. I’m running Eagle F1 GS-D3 on my 350Z (245/40-18” F with 245/45-18” R) and I like the tire.

It grips like glue on dry roadways, runs very well in the wet (wonderful resistance to hydroplaning), and provides a very comfortable ride for a summer performance tire. It’s noisy, but what summer performance tire isn’t?

The trade-off is its soft sidewall (that some drivers don’t like and describe as “squishy”), and that’s only a disadvantage if you prefer a stiff sidewall (that by its nature provides a less comfortable ride).

Drivers who prefer a more comfortable ride and want a tire that is sticky on both dry and wet surfaces will like this tire.

Drivers who want a stiff tire with minimal roll in turns should look at a different options.
