Default Stock Chrome

Did a search for stock chrome and nothing came up, so please don't flame me for being a n00b...

I've heard that salt eats chrome, and from my googling I gather this to be true. My '06 ZR came with the stock Nissan chrome 5 spokes. I know I'm months away from worrying, but we get our fair share of snow in Maryland. Had the worst blizzard since '96 this past winter.

Will my wheels be okay if I wipe them down right when I get home? Is OEM chrome more resilient than most? Nissan can't have expected ZR owners with these wheels to put their cars in the garage for the winter, could they?

Chrome is chrome. Clean them real well and put on some Wheel Wax.
